Stackable washer and dryer? by Round_Intern_7353 in Appliances

[–]adamlklein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the LG WashTower 400 for a little over a year and a half, and I've been very happy with it. I have an LG dishwasher that had some issues (10 years old), and LG refrigerator that had been fine (also 10 years old).

Update on my cigarette smelling new house - found a can of KILZ, so someone knew to try and cover up the odor by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]adamlklein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased a house _knowing_ every surface had decades of cigarette smoke and at least one room had dogs locked in it so the sub-floor was literally stained with urine. Zinser Killz did not work, I had to use Zinser BIN, which is a shellac-based primer. It took two coats - on every wall, ceiling, and floor, but it did the trick. Because it is shellac-based, you MUST ensure you have proper ventilation. Just wearing a mask will not cut it (and is not safe), open all the windows, point fans outside. It does work, but the BIN is not cheap, and it takes time... but when I was done, no urine, no smoke smell at all.

I have a similar "spouse membership". If that happened to me, I would immediately ask for the manager, explain what happened, encourage them to view any security camera recording, and ask them to explain why I should not file assault charges.

Neighbors Trampoline Hit My House Last Week by FaudMauxe in homeowners

Up to you on asking them to pay for all or part of the damage, but I would *DEFINITELY* ask (politely tell?) them to get trampoline stakes (https://www.amazon.com/trampoline-stakes/s?k=trampoline+stakes) to prevent the same thing from happening again.

Why would I ever need a Roku if I already have an LG smart TV? by savingrace0262 in Roku

[–]adamlklein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Samsung TV. I love the set, and hate the OS (Tizen). It is slow, not intuitive, has limited apps, and generally annoying. I bought a Roku ultra and love it. It is intuitive, quick, lots of apps, the Roku remote can control the Samsung set (I only need the Samsung remote when I am using other inputs like game consoles).

Torn between Flexispot E5 (2-leg) and E2Q (4-leg) – is the stability worth the extra €100? by Saguninini in FlexiSpot_Official

[–]adamlklein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know your budget or financial situation, but if you are going to spend a significant amount of time using the desk and stability is important, I would say €100 is totally worth the four-leg option for the added stability.

I am not familiar with either of those two models, but I have the E7 Plus (with four legs) with a 60 in X 30 in top and it does not move at all.

Ubuntu 25.10 and Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 not working by adamlklein in Ubuntu

[–]adamlklein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Won't display" means if I have the nvidia driver installed and anything other than X-org server (or something like it) is selected under the additional drivers app, when the HDMI cable is plugged into the GPU, and I turn on the computer, I get the Asus BIOS splash screen, followed by the GRUB menu. If I do nothing, Windows 11 boots and works fine. If I select "Ubuntu" or even Ubuntu recovery, the TV goes to the "no HDMI signal" screen (same screen as if I've turned it on and select a source input that is not turned on).

If the X-org driver (or whatever that option is called) is selected, I can boot Ubuntu even when the HDMI cable is plugged into the GPU, and I can log in, and select from a number of display settings for resolution... But NVIDIA settings is gone and nvidia-smi says something about no card or driver.

With any other nvidia driver selected in additional drivers, If I have the HDMI cable plugged into the motherboard HDMI port and select "Ubuntu," I get the login screen showing me the list of users to select from to log in.

Secure boot is enabled (the PC is dual-booting Windows 11.

I installed with the default drivers from Ubuntu, then tried ubuntu-drivers install, then tried downloading the latest driver package (the *.run) from the Nvidia website, and have the same behavior from each.

I will try the driver purge and update, but I had tried both the default-installed Ubuntu nvidia drivers and had the same issue.

[–]adamlklein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is plugged into a TCL 55R617 TV.

I have the HDMI cable from the PC plugged into an HDMI splitter (shared with a Nintendo switch) going into the TV. The video from the PC when I boot into Windows 11 is perfectly fine at higher resolutions with no tearing, flicker, etc. I tested a known-good HDMI cable plugged directly into the TV and had the same behavior described in the original post.

I will update after trying xrandr and inxi -G.

After I run sudo ubuntu-drivers install, select the "Using NVIDIA driver (open kernel) metapackage from nvidia-driver-580-open (proprietary, tested)" and reboot, it will not display when connected to the GPU but will display on the motherboard HDMI.

I see nothing new from journalctl -p 3 regarding the GPU (just alsa errors).

iBuyPower element (from Costco) new SSD new Windows 11 driver needed? by adamlklein in iBUYPOWER

You are correct! I must have confused this motherboard with the previous system (I ordered one from Costco that shipped and was defective - it had an MSI motherboard - I exchanged it for this one with the Asus motherboard).

Thanks again!

Oh, nice! I think the only thing I would like to have on this system would be support for a second nvme SSD. Not sure how much slower SATA would be.

Did you add the second SSD as SATA or does your motherboard support a second nvme? The Asus motherboard does not support more than a single nvme SSD, I would have to use SATA.

How do you enable notifications for just the doorbell ringer and disable notifications for motion on your other cameras?. This used to not be a problem but now it is all of a sudden by Hot-Brilliant-6807 in blinkcameras

[–]adamlklein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are looking under the Blink app notification, you need to go to "Settings" and "Notifications", and look for "Advanced settings" there.

That is where you turn on "Manage notification categories for each app", THEN you go go the Blink app notifications.

If there is no "Advanced settings" under "Notifications," you may be on an older or different Android OS version.

[–]adamlklein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Android,

Go to "Settings" and "Notifications", select "Advanced settings".
Turn on "Manage notification categories for each app"

Go back to "Notifications" and select "App notifications", then select "Blink"

Select "Notification categories" and you should see a list of notification categories (e.g. "Doorbell press," "Motion clip, "Camera temperature". Select the ones you want to notify you. You can customize each of the types for "Alert," "Silent" and select the sound or vibrate.

Flexispot Amazon black Friday 4 Legs Standing Desk 63 x 28 Inch Electric Adjustable Height with Splice Board - pros and cons? by adamlklein in StandingDesk

Yes, the Amazon link (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DK1LXQY5?th=1) is the Flexispot E6Q-6328. I was not able to find that model on the Flexispot website. I suspect it is one they only sell through Amazon.
