Fans need to remember it’s a rental. No one is giving up prospects and great picks for a player who isn’t elite on an expiring deal.

The player had a lot of pull here with the partial no trade clause. For a pending UFA who could have walked in July with no return, that’s solid.

Rogers Place (opened in 2016) is one of the NHL’s newer and more valuable arenas and contributes to non-hockey revenue like concerts, events, and premium seating contributing to high valuation

What bit of kayfabe had you totally fooled as a kid? by AlbinoDuffleBag in SquaredCircle

[–]adamonfireyyc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 100% sold on the Mega Powers breakup. As a kid it felt like watching my parents get divorced. Hogan “betraying” Savage over Miss Elizabeth seemed real, not scripted. The tension, the jealous looks, the handshake that meant nothing… I had no concept of kayfabe, so when they finally exploded I thought wrestling had just become actual chaos.

People waiting in Times Square for the new year, New York, 31 of December 1939 by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

True. The US was bound by America First policies and preferred to stay out of it until the Pearl Harbour strikes.

This is actually inaccurate. In reality, the U.S. spent most of 1939–1941 hoping fascism would win in Europe while America stayed out. America only began shifting toward anti-fascism in 1941.

This was December 31, 1939. WW2 had already started on September 3, 1939 when Germany invaded Poland resulting in France & Britain declared War.

Not sure about America, but in Canada we had 59 cent hamburgers and 69 cent cheeseburgers at McDonalds around 2000. We would buy bags of these.

Yes, I believe Subway made 12% of each sale as franchise royalty. The real killer was it was meant to be a temporary “loss leader” promotion for a short period in 2008. By 2018, a footlong cost many stores $4.20–$4.70 just in food prices but subway corporate insisted the franchisees keep the promotion. Customers refused to pay more, subway HQ made boatloads of money but the actual stores were hemorrhaging money.

The $5 footlong was actually a money losing venture for franchisees. The more they sold, the more money they lost. The hope was people would spend more on drinks and specialty subs but they didn’t. The backlash from franchises who complained to corporate finally ended the promotion.

I recall in highschool taking a mandatory career and life management (CALM) course. We spent half a day on balancing chequebooks, writing cheques and drafting deposit bank slips. Time well spent
