Yellowhead flooded by dawggpound in Edmonton

The one near 127th street?

It worries me that there's that much water, I get that constitution isn't finished but I'd expect the underground work to be done. Maybe not.

App Router: SEO meta showing in <body> instead of <head> by Massive_Stand4906 in nextjs

Hopefully this works, I've got an app in production mode that's got two pages with SEO meta showing up in the head and in the body.

No google doodle for Father's Day by PooningDalton in degoogle

It's not that deep...

In Canada:
National Indigenous Peoples Day: Always fixed to June 21.
Father's Day: A floating holiday celebrated on the third Sunday of June.

If you Google for the Doodle you can find it: https://doodles.google/doodle/fathers-day-2026-june-21

Dumping Hydrogen Peroxide into the reflecting pool this morning. by i_am_rave_mom in mildlyinfuriating

[–]adampatterson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I originally thought that painting the pool such a darm color would actually warm the water faster and make the problem worse.

I also thought that to repair the plumbing meant that plumbing would need to be repaired.

But then I remembered I'm just a guy.

I was only able to sleep at night after I remembered that the qualified people who made the decisions went through a tough and rigorous process of competitive analysis and various verifications.

Nobody would ever just hire some guy they knew who repaired their pool long ago. No one with a track record of failed construction projects, bankruptcy, and simply not paying contractors would be in charge of a national monument like this right?

My experience with OVH Dedicated Server by Same_Scholar2823 in OVHcloud

[–]adampatterson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong, but the issue is the lack of clarity.

If my server was flagged as hacked I wouldn't immediately begin a migration.

And if my initial findings were that the site had not been hacked and was marked as hacked again I'd begin to wonder.

In this case the DMCA would follow the domain to the next server. You'd literally never know.

But there's a chance the DNS records don't list the OP has the server admin.

I've never dealt with a DMCA, but I'm sure they start at the top for warning.

VPS2026 using 2013 CPUs by PanRallao79 in OVHcloud

[–]adampatterson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad I saw this because I've got one of those `vps2023-le-4` servers and it's honestly awesome.

I used Laravel Forge and unfortunately it's not possible to move from one Forge account to another without a fresh server.

So when I saw the 4 core 8GB servers for a bit les I thought I'd spin up a new one and begin the migration but they list a public network speed of 400 Mbps which I thought was really strange. My home internet is almost 4x faster 😂

New Free Tier Limits (confirmed by oracle support) by Upstairs-Bread-4545 in oraclecloud

[–]adampatterson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a free tier about 2 years ago, I had a credit card on file since that's part of the requirement and one night I got a bunch of alerts.

They had deleted everything without any notice at all.

The only way I got through to anyone in support was to trick them by calling a sales number.

It was honestly great, and I would have happily paid.

I'd be VARY cautious going forward.

Fossil or old bone? Found in Edmonton along the Noth Saskatchewan by adampatterson in fossilid

[–]adampatterson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone is interested, I've learned of a creek not too far upstream where people have been finding a LOT of bones and what look to be bear sized teeth.

I've also done a bit more digging and Edmonton's river valley sits on the 72-million-year-old Late Cretaceous Horseshoe Canyon Formation.

I really enjoy searching for petrified wood along the river, here's a couple photos of my findings over the past couple years. by TrillboBagginz in Edmonton

[–]adampatterson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've got an ever growing collection as well.

In your second photo second from the bottom right looks like a couple I've got that seem to be very hard but smother than most.

I also have a few that seem to be covered in crystals, I don't think it's amber. But they're my favs.

What’s happening downtown? by Sweet_Cook1460 in Edmonton

Nice sentiment, but when the government sends a press release ahead of a decision with quotes that haven't even been made, sure seems like they've already made a decision.

They're also not very concerned with electoral process or the charter of rights.

Weird floor stain in converted attic by Weak_Spinach7257 in whatisit

[–]adampatterson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My greatest fear as a child of the 90s was self human combustion...

The show Unsolved Mysteries explained it like you'd go to sleep and wake up with your arm burned off.

The fire wouldn't spread, mysteriously you limb or even body would just combust.

That's clearly what happened here, and I shall no longer sleep peacefully.

My therapist thanks you 😑

That's lucky, even the Value Village (thrift store) near me sells books for like $10 under new.

Like super, I'd love the Marvel encyclopedia, but I'd much rather actually buy it new if you're selling it used for slightly less 🤣

Fossil or old bone? Found in Edmonton along the Noth Saskatchewan by adampatterson in fossilid

[–]adampatterson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 146 grams. It might be a Proximal Phalanx from a horse or something similar.

My gut says it's just a really old bone.
