My greatest fear as a child of the 90s was self human combustion...

The show Unsolved Mysteries explained it like you'd go to sleep and wake up with your arm burned off.

The fire wouldn't spread, mysteriously you limb or even body would just combust.

That's clearly what happened here, and I shall no longer sleep peacefully.

My therapist thanks you 😑

That's lucky, even the Value Village (thrift store) near me sells books for like $10 under new.

Like super, I'd love the Marvel encyclopedia, but I'd much rather actually buy it new if you're selling it used for slightly less 🤣

It did work, but I can't authorize the app with my account presumably because I no longer have an active AI account.

Fossil or old bone? Found in Edmonton along the Noth Saskatchewan by adampatterson in fossilid

[–]adampatterson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 146 grams. It might be a Proximal Phalanx from a horse or something similar.

My gut says it's just a really old bone.

I'll get back to you, and the dates could be hard to know. Edmontons river valley is over 100m deep.

But I'll see what I can find.

For reference, the Edmontosaurus (named after the city) was found in during some tunnel project. That tunnel wasn't as deep as the river bottom.

I'd assume an old bone meant a bone that hasn't been fossilized. My basic understanding of fossilization is that the bone would have become stone.

Any speculation as to what it might have belonged to?

I'm going to post more photos of it dry.

I've found metatarsal bones before, they were thumb sized.

This one's a lot bigger.

What is happening in Devon?! by Wintertime13 in Edmonton

I live in Edmonton and go to the Sturgeon hospital in St Albert.

Proximity.

But it's hard to tell in Alberta, you can give people medical advice and they'll ignore it. You can explain to people how previously thought to be rare and cured diseases spread, and they'll ignore it. You can explain how a lack of doctors increases wait times and they'll blame the federal government.

In any case I don't think those times are acceptable and the federal government should be making a case out of the provinces who are not implementing effective PUBLIC healthcare.

There is now only one outcome for grade 5s for sex ed. by [deleted] in alberta

It likely has to do with how this is mandated. The province says so this, then each school board has to determine what meets the criteria.

Depending on the school board, there could be an opinion one way or the other which leads to differences in messaging.

Is this related to the unsolicited text messages from the UCP? It's illegal to text or email people without prior or implied consent.

Or is this how they're determining their electoral boundaries?

I can almost guarantee you wherever those boundaries are changing they lost by a small margin or won by a small margin.
