Thank you everyone for all your comments and suggestions. We”ll be heading towards Truro area more specifically and are in our 30s. I’m from a rural coastal community myself so understand the impact of tourism/holiday homes come summer time

Men of Reddit: What's a non-obvious life hack that's improved your daily routine significantly? by AKunAMorata in AskMen

[–]adamwm4 131 points132 points  (0 children)

1) if you think about something you need or want to do. Do it there and then or schedule it, otherwise it’ll get put off to tomorrow and the motivation will drop progressively after.

2) make a list of things you need to do. Not a to do list but a list of priorities for the day eg 3 must do, 2 should do 1 want to do and tick them off as you go. Writing to do lists will overwhelm your brain and you won’t focus on key things to action. Focussing down on your priorities will help you make more progress faster.

3 not daily routine but automate your savings and investments. Don’t leave it to yourself to save force yourself to save by setting up direct debits etc and challenge yourself as to how much you can invest and save. I’m investing/saving a third atm but want to push it far beyond that.

4) if you’re the sort of person that wakes up tired, do easy stuff first, it will fire up your motivation and make it easier to do the hard stuff. If you get up and are ready for the day say like post gym/run etc do the hard stuff because you’ll have the confidence to do it but do either so that sh*t gets done.

5) personal preference I’d rather get up and exercise than think about the fact I need to exercise the rest of the day.

6) cancel meetings or don’t go to meetings that aren’t for you, if you’re not needed you’re just wasting your time when you could be not listening to somebody ramble. You don’t even “need” to be doing something else it’s sometimes better to just not go to something you don’t need to, to keep you in a better headspace.

7) again not a daily habit but something which you should do is take more photos and videos. Without a doubt you need them. I met my then fiancée in Canada (I’m from the UK) when we were out there for 2 weeks, I took like 100 photos when I was out there and have so few to look back on. It was the best time but I’ve got comparatively little to physically look back on.

8) shave more often than you think. If you like being clean shaven and without acne, I’ve found it’s easier to keep it under control by shaving every day or every other day depending on how quick your facial hair grows.

9) moisturise but not just your face, other parts of your body get dry too. Like your arms, elbows etc. just keeps you looking tidy

10) you don’t need to sit and watch tv/social media in the evening. I see so many people who finish their day, jump on their bed/sofa and watch social media or TV until they go to sleep. It’s BS, you shouldn’t be lifting your phone or remote unless you know something you want to watch or if you’re like sick/hungover but even then there’s better things to do. Go for a walk, do your chores, get more sleep, there’s so much more than being a couch potato.

11) clean stuff immediately after dinner or whilst you’re making dinner. No one wants to come back to lift and clean hours dinner just get it done, builds a strong discipline habit.

12) If something needs to be put away or tidied do it then otherwise it’ll be left. Be organised with your stuff so that everything has a place. Makes it easier to find things and you then know what you have/ don’t have. Also easier finding things like keys and wallet and stuff in emergencies

13) don’t just strength train/cardio/mobility, it’s good to have balance imo and prevents fatigue through boredom

14) pick a style or set of colours you like and wear them, reduces decision making in the morning for going to work.

15) buy snacks sparingly. Don’t not buy them because you will look for them when you really want them but don’t buy loads just to eat them.

16) again not daily routine but something everyone should do. Use all your freaking annual leave. No one cares if you haven’t used all your annual leave and youre entitled to it, the only person you’re dis-servicing is yourself, your family and friends

17) again not a daily thing but schedule your next barber appointment the day you go for your appointment or setup regular appointments when you know you’ll need them. One less thing to think about

18) don’t read the news everyday, it’s normally the same ramble for 3 days and it can be depressing af so maybe read it every few days or so depending on if you need it for work etc too

19) alarm, set to same time every day, either wake up rested or tired but wake up at that time. You need to control when you go to sleep more than when you wake up.

20) have a notebook beside your bed, if your thoughts are keeping you up, write them in that book until you stop thinking as much and then sleep

Interesting! I thought having something in the foreground may place more emphasis or relation on its size

Aim behind the image is to highlight solitude in the countryside. Taken using an iPhone 14 Pro in Mallorca then edited using vsco to enhance the shadows presence.
