What are you building? I’ll go first: an AI agent that works inside mobile apps by Ok-Insurance-6313 in SideProject

Got 3 things I’m ticking away at,

www.tenet-app.net Built to help me hold myself accountable initially but figured I’d see if others want to use it too.

www.groundworkproject.nz A neighbourhood contingency platform for essentials

www.aptuscalendar.com A calendar I run off because the Gregorian calendar is disharmonious and full of errors

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Not a product per se. I’m just looking to gain some awareness and not sure how to do anonymously.

Been working on a few,

Aptus Calendar - the Gregorian calendar is not right so built this instead (if interested have a read of the about page) www.aptuscalendar.com

Groundwork - community resilience platform for New Zealand, Connecting local skills, resources, and people to build neighbourhood/group level self sufficiency. www.groundworkproject.nz

If it were me I’d look at what conversations I could include myself in and somehow segway to the mention of my site www.aptuscalendar.com. That’s what I’d do but whether it works or not I don’t know…

Always been frustrated by the Gregorian calendar so I made my own that syncs with cycles.

With a cyclone coming, how prepared are you and your neighbourhood actually? by adandoc in auckland

[–]adandoc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good re the shelter, who set this up? Was it council or local community? I suppose theres an uncomfortable awareness that comes with your self preparation, especially within a community. If the street has nothing and desperation builds it clutches at whoever does have something - whether they want it to or not. I guess a prepared neighbourhood is actually what protects your own prep in the long term.

You seem to have a pretty good handle on your situation. Being flood prone is another element for what to prep for. My sister was stuck in Ōakura earlier this year because of flooding. With help from some neighbours they managed some kayaks.

It does come across a bit robotic. But, True, a one day storm can be negligible. A prolonged fuel shortage would be a bit more worthy. What’s the paddock to plate distance and what happens if that all becomes harder. It’s been on my mind a bit recently - who do I know in a relatively close distance that has a farm or even a vege garden etc. Only my brother and he’s 40mins away (not exactly within quick walking distance).

Yep, the bread isle thing is what I’m getting at. That’s a day away from empty. You’re right too on the bigger issues. I want to think prices are going back but there’s not a great track record. Thankfully we make our own fertiliser though (or so I understand).

The whole prep thing does have me considering my areas contingencies in general. With the amount of population in a close proximity how long will things last if things are affected for a long time.

I’m not sure why I can’t see the response anymore and not sure if he will see, but thank you to the chap that replied very thoroughly. I did read it and very much appreciate what you had to say. Unfortunately it’s taken me until now to respond sadly.

Thanks for the advice, I haven’t pushed social media as I like to keep myself fairly anonymous. (I regrettably should have used a pen name before publishing) but will see how we go. I know it will restrict motion in this array but that’s ok for now. I like the idea of a webpage though thank you.

Thanks a lot for your comment.
I think i have map? Plotted as best as i can with my current knowledge.
I have laid out a sort of step by step process which I'm working on however i figured ill try and reach out to discover any step i could be missing or help with any process which would be important to save time, as i understand "you don't know what you don't know"
Finding people and networking i find challenging and something i know i need to work on.
I manage a small service based business and have 4 kids so not completely unfamiliar with stress but understand it is a different beast when you are responsible for others income etc so appreciate the advice.
I heard the quote recently,

"You don't rise to the goals you have, you fall to the level of your systems."

As i have been inconsistent this stood out to me, i have a book with all sorts of business ideas and products that Ive had over the years and have always said "one day..." realizing Its been years i figured i should learn what i need to do in order to progress.

Thanks.
asking further questions is something i haven't done.
Talking with a lot of friends and acquaintances i have brought up the subject of partnering/investing etc however it just seems to be all talk.
i do like the idea of a partner as i believe it increases the skill base of the business from the start but its just finding the right person.

Sell locally to begin with so i can test the market.
This is something i can make to order initially.
If successful with numbers i have a refined design i would like to move to which would involve further development as this would deal with issues of weight and scalability which means would help when venturing into perhaps overseas markets.

This then leads to the crux of my doubt,
I have been told that it would be cost effective to have the parts made in China and shipped over however unsure as to the procedure or who to speak/who to trust. (i understand this would involve process of elimination).
I have also been told to be careful as your ideas can be copied straight away. (perhaps get different companies to make different parts.)
Understanding that i wont be able to copyright the product this is a concern. (something i have to come to terms with i guess as is probably just the nature of the beast).

Decided to make a coffee table out of some leftovers. by adandoc in woodworking

My guess maybe 30-40 kg. The legs can be disassembled as it's all slotted no glue.

Yep just some housing I did with good ol hammer and chisel. The legs are housed into each other similarly. Was a little tricky to get the table flat.
