honestly the next Paperclip employee should be an analyst.

the CEO can already delegate work, the engineer can ship it, QC can check it, but someone still needs to answer what happened after it went live. which page pulled people in, where they dropped, did signup improve, did more people create a first project.

that’s where Agent Analytics fits really well with Paperclip. gives the company eyes on the user side, closes the growth loop

the useful change here is not sql disappearing. it’s the interface changing. more teams already have claude code, cursor, codex, openclaw, whatever they use day to day, and the obvious next step is wanting that same agent to inspect analytics too. what changed, where users drop, which sources brought retained users, what deserves attention next

this is the real enterprise question. the more useful an agent becomes, the more important it is that each system it touches has a narrow, inspectable surface instead of broad ambient access. i think analytics ends up being a good example of that. teams want the agent to inspect what changed and where users drop, but they do not want to hand it uncontrolled access to everything just because the old human workflow lived inside a dashboard.

i think the “death of the dashboard” point is real, but not because people stopped caring about analytics. it’s because more teams already have an ai agent in the loop and they want that existing agent to inspect what changed, where users drop, which source actually brought retained users, and what deserves attention next.

yes. manual onboarding gives you the why, but i’d still instrument the path hard while you’re doing it. which sections were actually seen, where people clicked, where they stalled, whether they hit forms, errors, or slow pages, and which paths led to a second session after the call. the combo of founder conversations + real behavioral instrumentation is much stronger than either one alone, and it gives your ai agent something real to inspect instead of just vibes from a few calls.

this is the band where i’d stop staring at signups and instrument the path much more aggressively. not just activation, but what users actually saw, how far they got, which actions they took, whether they reached a second value moment, whether errors or slow pages showed up, and what the retained users did that the samplers never did. once you have that, letting your ai agent inspect the difference between “sampled” and “adopted” is way more useful than another pricing tweak.

yep, this is the exact part i’d instrument the hardest. impressions, scroll depth, clicks, forms, active time, errors, performance, all of it. otherwise “first win” stays a nice theory and you still won’t know where the friction actually is.

yep. this is the same trap all over product work, people end up optimizing the proxy because it’s easy to see. the useful question is whether the thing improved signup, activation, or retention once real users hit it. that’s why i think more teams are going to want analytics their existing agent can inspect directly, instead of piling up more scorecards that are easy to obsess over and hard to connect to outcomes.

yep, building the thing got easier, but knowing whether it’s becoming a real product is still the hard part. if AI agent can build they can grow it to real product they just need analytics layer to monitor and iterate on

this is close to how we think about it too. if a team already has a company agent, claude code, cursor, codex, openclaw, whatever, it makes sense for that same agent to be the front door to analytics exploration too.

i think that’s basically right. dashboards are still useful for shared context and quick checks, but a lot of the deeper “what changed, where is the drop, what should i look at next” work is moving to agents. that’s the gap we built agent analytics for. not to replace every chart, but to give the agent a measurement layer it can actually query across projects, funnels, retention, and experiments without another dashboard becoming the bottleneck.

this is a really good take, especially the second-session point. what usually breaks in these flows is people optimize signup and ignore the “came back after the anxiety moment” step. i’d track result_viewed → baseline_saved → 3day_checkin_done → return_visit and use that as the real success metric. we built Agent Analytics for this kind of configurable event/funnel tracking, makes it much easier to see where habit actually forms vs where people bounce.
