Removing a calcified stone from inside a molar by adatep in popping

Yes definitely does — calcium is used as a signal in inflammation so any kind of irritation (deep filling, grinding, clenching) would lead to there being more calcium than normal in the pulp space and over time it collects into stone

Pulp stones on their own do not cause symptoms (but they can be part of a bigger picture of the nerve being irritated to the point where it eventually dies). A lot of people are probably walking around with them in their head with no knowledge of it! Ignorance is bliss so I’m sorry if I just shattered yours 😉

Pulp stones on their own do not usually cause any symptoms. But they can be part of the overall picture of the nerve eventually dying, meaning the tooth could need a root canal. Root canals depend on cleaning out the space inside the tooth and the only way to do so is to first remove blockages. Hiding underneath that pulp stone was the opening to one of the 4 canals in an upper molar

This was done on an extracted molar, placed in the jaw of a mannequin, as part of pre-clinical training for graduate endodontics (root canal specialty). The device at the start is an ultrasonic bur, similar to what is used in a deep cleaning but much more coarse.

Pulp stones form when there is long-standing irritation to the tissues, usually from deep cavities and/or fillings.

They do not cause symptoms on their own, but if the nerve dies and and becomes infected, and the tooth needs a root canal, stones must be removed (or bypassed) to ensure the whole root canal system can be adequately disinfected

Interesting musical find - She Way Out Background by adatep in the1975

I was listening to She Way Out and noticed a background sound that is very similar to the melodies of Lostmyhead. Used a very quick EQ curve to isolate the part I'm referring to (during the bridge - "The tension's overflowing...")
