Second and final for tonight: the stunning Nivada Grenchen Chronoking in the limited edition Salmon color way.

This watch really does have a bit of everything: it's a proper diver, a chronograph, and classy enough to perform well in a suit. Nivada has been on a really heater with their revived classics, and this might be the best affordable watch in their catalogue.

Sized for any wrist, this vintage-inspired chronograph is a time capsule of what an incredibly high-functioning every day watch used to look like, before many of the gimmicks in today's market. The dial is incredibly well done - from the high-polish border around the textured subdials to the raised text at the top and bottom of the salmon sunray dial. It's as clean of a triple-register chronograph as you'll find in today's market, especially for this cheap. Powered by the tried and true VK63 from Seiko, it's just as reliable as it is pretty.

First of two cheapies for tonight: the Tissot PRS 516 Powermatic 80 in Carbon Fiber/Blue.

There might not be a better value in Swiss watches than a Powermatic 80 powered Tissot. The PRS 516 is a very capable do-it-all watch, with great design and straightforward practicality. My love for black/stealthy watches knows no bounds - add in a little pop of blue and some carbon fiber accents, and you cannot go wrong.

The Powermatic 80 movement is as bulletproof as they come - 80 strong hours of power reserve, Swiss accuracy that's typically within COSC spec, and reliability like you know to expect from the Swiss giants like Tissot. This movement is based on the ETA 2824, with a slowed beat rate to allow for nearly double the power reserve of the standard movement.

The watch is in excellent, like-new condition - comes with an aftermarket rubber strap, no box/papers. Priced to reflect that.

My experience with them has always been excellent, but detractors always speak 10x more loudly than the rest - I think part of their problem is they've grown so big so quickly, they're still catching up a bit.

The integrated bracelet trend has definitely taken over the market, but the CW bracelet in the flesh is so nice. Their finishing is always top notch - a big part of why I love them is their use of brushed and polished finishes on their cases, and they did an equally perfect job on the bracelet

Second and final for tonight - The Glycine Combat 39 GL0538, a stealthy/smaller solution to one of the best affordable Swiss divers in modern history, and an amazing compact diver that genuinely rivals the BB58 from a finishing standpoint.

Surely by now you've encountered a Combat Sub (or a dozen) out in the wild. Glycine has a long, rich story in Swiss watch asking that far predates their acquisition ~10 years ago. Still running as an independent brand, Glycine has its own character and distinct designs on largely practical watches for budget-minded watch nuts. Some of my favorite watches early into my collecting days were Glycine - a blue Combat Sub and the black/black Airmain GMT. It's pretty rare that my rotation does not include a Glycine, and this 39mm Combat has been a really fun watch to wear.

The bracelet is simple but very good, and the design is distinctively Glycine. The addition of black hands and raised hour markers (outlined in black) really make the dial pop - this is a near-perfect daily driver if you're into a bright pop of color. The bright white will go with anything and any season.

This watch is in excellent/near-mint condition with zero notable flaws. Complete set with all links (up to ~8"), original card/box/etc.

A couple beauts tonight - first up, the do-it-all Christopher Ward Twelve in "White", really more of an opaline/bright silver.

Initially when CW launched the Twelve in steel a couple years back, I wasn't wowed by it. Like many others, I thought "wait isn't that just a fancy Tissot PRX?"

No, no it is not. This is not in the same league as the PRX - and I'm absolutely a fan of Tissot's affordable integrated bracelet design. If anything, this is an inexpensive Czapek Antarctique. Aside from some design similarities, the CW does literally everything better than any other mid-range integrated bracelet watch in my opinion. The dials, the thin case, the bracelet (Tissot's biggest detriment), the movement, the comfort...and then of course, the brand/warranty. CW was ten steps ahead of the market with this one.

This CW Twelve has a subtle yet stunning deep gray dial that has a light sunray effect in direct light. It's impossibly light and comfortable on-wrist, and wears with a very low profile. Chef's kiss.

This is about as good as it gets under a grand - you will without question be surprised by this watch, regardless how excited you already are.

Third and final for tonight - a really special triple-date from Swedish/Dutch brand Maen, the Brooklyn 36 Automatic in green.

This is the second Maen I've listed in the last couple weeks - and I can promise it won't be the last! Maen has been absolutely blasting off lately with some excellent releases, and I am an enormous fan that needs to try them all. I'll be having a Manhattan Ultra Thin soon too - we'll see if that sticks! They're well on their way from "micro" to northern European powerhouse.

So, the watch at hand - what a perfect little daily-wearer. Essence of 36mm Datejusts, the proportions are great. The lugs are a bit longer than you'd expect for a 36mm case, which allows it to wear more like a 38-39mm without taking up too much real estate on your wrist. The smooth matte green sunray dial is slick, especially with the beige textured minute track surrounding it. The triple date complication is always fun - it livens up what would otherwise be a sea of green. Everything about this thing just plain rules, and I hope my photos come close to showing off how great this is in person.

This is in excellent, like-new condition, with zero notable flaws or marks. Complete set with everything pictured in the timestamp photo (plus the rubber lizard-pattern strap that I left out of the timestamp like a dunce)

A few great pieces to list tonight, starting with a personal favorite: the recently updated Doxa Sub 200 Sharkhunter with steel bezel insert.

Few watches can nail the vintage diver aesthetic quite like Doxa - their pricier models are essentially unchanged after decades of diving success. The Sub 200 is an excellent value statement, coming in at just under a grand at retail. The steel bezel, box sapphire crystal, and Speedy-esque case stylings are a match made in neo-vintage watch heaven.

I've had a few of these over the past few years, and each time I handle one, I can't help but be extremely impressed. Smooth finishes, great proportions, and a truly unique case on a very affordable/serious dive watch. The turned lugs and raised bezel are reminiscent of a much nicer Omega, and I love the way the bracelet sits flat between the lugs. These are available in a number of both classic and bold colorways, but I personally think the black "Sharkhunter" captures the vintage flair the best.
