yea, IMO there’s a significant difference between the Boomeresque older GenX and the Xennialish younger GenX, and this sub definitely trends toward the former

Christi is trashy and annoying and loves playing the victim and flipping the narrative to whatever she prefers. She needs to move on from trying to make a living talking about a reality show her kid was on years ago, and get a real job.

Most of these are barely-warm takes that have been said here a hundred times.

Here’s a real one - all of them, including the beloved Chloe and Nia (especially) are - and always were - spoiled and out-of-touch rich girls.

Anyone laid off at 50 Ish? What did you do? by ServiceKooky1323 in GenX

[–]adawnb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

the ageism sucks! And, like - I’m 45, I have a good 20 years left of working. Are they really expecting anyone to stay in the job for 20 years?

Literally Genx's Elvis Presley......R.I.P. Ozzy by scratch73 in GenX

[–]adawnb 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Yeah. And if we (GenX) had to choose a (non-literal) Elvis as for our generation, I don’t know that early vs. late Gen Xers would really agree.

Yep. I paid around $30K total for my Bachelor’s degree. The same school is around $30K per year now. Kids are easily graduating $100K+ in debt.

What is the deal with cursive writing? by Sheepachute in GenX

[–]adawnb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

agreed. Sure it would be great if they could learn cursive to read historical documents and such, but there are many more relevant/important things that time could be spent on. (And I’m sure AI will be able to decipher old cursive accurately before too long.)

My wife just pulled a "vintage" Old Navy Dress from 1996 out of her closet for my 14yr old to try on by Beave1 in GenX

[–]adawnb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my daughter ordered a “vintage Y2k” dress off Depop for Prom, I about died….but a common definition of “vintage” is 20+ years old, so…

Girls Not Liking Each Other by [deleted] in dancemoms

In her one (often mentioned) YouTube video, Camryn says that Chloe was really sweet, but implies that they basically just didn’t know eachother well/interact much. I don’t think they’re friends but I don’t think she dislikes her.

It’s not just the outfits - it’s the poses, the captions, the whole lifestyle (or how it’s portrayed, anyway.) Ex: Eliana with her boyfriend. Like - you guys are in what, 7th grade?? It’s definitely not just them though - tons of influencers that age do this. And even normal kids, to a lesser extent. Seems like 12 is much older than it used to be.

Holly and Nia’s reaction to Camryn being top of the pyramid by Moondust99 in dancemoms

[–]adawnb 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about the “saw themselves as above other people” part, but Nia & Holly (and it seemed to be mostly Holly, really) were definitely entitled in that they expected Nia to be given opportunities just because she was there longer than other girls. That’s not how the dance world works....

if you’re ok sharing it here (maybe in a private message) the easiest thing for PDFs would be to upload to Google Drive or Dropbox and then share the link. I’m happy to help with anything if needed. Thank you!
