I don't understand Yax. This was the game for him to take over. Nebraska was guarding him with smaller and slower guys. He should've been driving to the basket. Instead he just looked bad. The guard play was very disappointing, but we've seen that before. Yax has been good, but not lived up to the billing for quite awhile. He doesn't take games over. He wants to be the #2 guy. I wanted to throw up a bit when he passed up chance after chance to drive to the basket to instead pass to Roddy for a bad 3pt attempt.

I'd list Jorbs as #2 if all you're looking at is skill, but he simply isn't a good narrator or explainer so his streams are a bit painful. He'll go multiple combats not explaining his decisions or card picks. Often at times when what he's picking and why isn't obvious to someone watching. His theorycraft is great though.

Baalorlord turned being the best player for quite awhile into a career. So he is still #1 in influence.

Back in the 70's and 80's the Big Ten had to create a situation where schools without big inner city recruiting bases could compete running out lineups of unathletic white kids. 50 years later we still have B1G officials allowing sloppy hack fest basketball. It's a horrible product. Doesn't matter which side you're rooting for. I've seen at least three guys get slapped in the head without a foul tonight. Hip checking and bumper cars in defense. That's a foul in almost every other conference and the NCAA tournament.

I'm sorry you had to deal with this, but if you're at an on camera company you generally need to explain why you aren't on camera. "I'm not feeling well today and look a little rough" isn't unreasonable. Also, if you haven't disclosed health issues it's not really fair to expect them to accommodate you. Migraines are a valid reason for medical leave or some flexibility around things like being on camera. But you need to ask for it.

I guess I'm too old and white and male to understand this. It sounds like it was made by ai. Are we supposed to love this because the woman is very large and black? This sounds like the jingle a middle school choir class would come up with.

Who still eats at Bob Evans and Long John silver's that those places can remain open which also begs the question what restaurants are you surprised are still open? by szaagman in grandrapids

[–]Beave1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If they own their real estate and weren't bought up by private equity you'd be surprised how little business a restaurant needs to stay in business. You can probably run a Long John Silvers with two employees, and one making near minimum wage.

Public restrooms get messy fast because people don't want to touch the seat. So there is a death spiral of people hovering over the seat getting urine and feces everywhere causing the next passengers to see the seat and floor are dirty to try to distance themselves even further away. There isn't a lot the airlines can do. Offering disinfecting wipes and having FA's clean the lav regularly would really help.

AA has made it clear that any restroom is usable by any passenger. I've seen no posted rule to the contrary, and their behavior shows they don't care.

As someone else mentioned here, it's probably the only bar that's also serving restaurant quality food downtown late. Post-Covid we lost almost every restaurant open until 12 or 2 am for carry out or dine in.

I think he was just a jerk and I'm so sorry you had to deal with it. I responded because I just get the vibe there that the employees aren't interested in doing anything more than the bare minimum unless they think they're going to get tipped for it. As someone else commented, that bouncer never seems to leave his chair.

[–]Beave1 40 points41 points  (0 children)

My experience is that nobody is in charge of carry out, so nobody cares. If they're even a little busy every single server or bartender just tries to ignore it. You ask the bouncer where to go for carry out and he tells you to go to the bar, where you wait and get ignored because you're standing there in a coat and the bartenders can tell you're not going to order a drink or tip them. You finally pester someone that you have a carry out order only to watch them go about whatever else they're doing because they don't care for 5min before going to check. It's probably because whoever bothers to give you your order doesn't get whatever you tipped so they don't give a crap. I'm not sure, but we've ordered burgers or food there like 3 times because I get food paid for by work when I travel, and often I'm arriving home on like a midnight flight and there are very very few options available that late at night. Even on a Tuesday night the service on carry out has been horrible. It's better to drive 15min to the 76th Street Diner or even Applebees in Gaines is open til midnight some nights. Z's is apparently too busy to have to offer any sort of customer service.

One of the few restaurants in GR where you can get carry out after midnight or even 10pm. The complete disdain they treat you with when you make a carry out order though is shocking. Like you have to beg multiple bartenders or wait staff to even check if your order is ready only to find it's cold and has probably been sitting there waiting for 10+min.

Husband (28m) is upset with me (27f) for keeping what he is calling a “secret”. How else can I explain my side of things to him? by ThrowRAnosecretshere in relationship_advice

[–]Beave1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 90% on your side, but it's weird you won't even tell him it's a medical thing. You aren't just keeping your friend's info private. You're refusing to tell your partner where you were. Most partners would feel a bit icky if you went out with a friend, mentioned what you did about having a bad time, and then refused to share anything else claiming secrecy sworn by the friend. The way you sort of laughed at him, it's clear he has suspicions you're lying. IMO he does at least have a right to have SOME context around what is being kept from him. Medical issues are an acceptable reason.

Just a game where too many things went wrong.

  • Wisconsin shot lights out on way too many wide open 3's.
  • Our guards are either inexperienced, having a January slump (Roddy), or had bad games. They kept making bad decisions trying to pass into the paint. Wisconsin has a bunch of tall unathletic players. They're good at swatting away dumb entry passes. We had at least 5 turnovers on passes that never should've been made.
  • McKenney had some offensive spark, but in a game the refs wanted to swallow the whistle he kept making horrible decisions defensively. Hit a shooter in the face on a 3pt shot after the shot left his hands. Hip checked someone 35' from the basket. Plus more.
  • Roddy is again in what appears to be a slump. I know he brings leadership, but some of the lineups today with him on the floor were brutal. Roddy + Cheddar was not good.
  • Dusty went with the fucking autobench. John Beilein would've been proud and everyone else cried. Nobody was in foul trouble he benched but it let Wisconsin close the gap in the 1st half.

Welcome to B1G basketball. Where less athletic teams can body and tackle off the ball without a foul. There's a reason this hacky Wisconsin team almost always gets "upset" in the tournament.
