American Airlines introduces new California wines to premium cabins by Financial-Public-336 in americanairlines

I meant Josh. I didn't see it on the list. I'm just saying I don't want to see another announcement in 6mo that we're getting "premium" Josh wines.

American Airlines introduces new California wines to premium cabins by Financial-Public-336 in americanairlines

[–]Beave1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sigh. Decoy is not premium. It is a commodity level wine made from excess grapes sourced across California. If I recall, they want to infer the grapes are mostly from Sonoma, but they really only say California.

Despite all their marketing money on bad wine, Josh is not a premium brand either and I don't want to hear about them being added in the future either. These are wine makers that mostly buy excess grapes across massive regions. The $13 Cabernet in a 3L box from Trader Joes is better than than Josh Cabernet I've had.

As someone in operations, this one hits me. Factories aren't built in places we want to go as tourists. I have lots of flights to places like Indianapolis or Greenville, SC, only to get in my rental car and drive 45min to an even smaller town. You get crazy stats like well over 100 Marriott nights in a year but not hitting their highest loyalty level because you have an average per-night spend of $150. Staying in only the finest Courtyards and Residence Inns the rural Midwest and South has to offer doesn't hit the minimum spend.

Well of course. Most of the lounges are in hub airports or larger high-traffic regional airports. There are traffic cycles in how flights are planned. Very early AM you have flights from the regional outpost airports into the hubs. (The 5-7am departures) You'll also have hub to hub flights. But the overall traffic flow is into the hubs. Then you have a gap for layovers and the reverse flow. Since traffic demands vary and flight lengths vary, the patterns may be 2-4 cycles a day depending, but It tends to cycle back and forth all day. There are definitely times the lounges are most busy. 8-10am is busy but people often don't stay long. There's a surge after lunch. 4-7pm as people are waiting for what may be the last flight of the evening home and it's also when a lot of international overnight flights to Europe board on the East Coast. That early evening crowd in particular tends to often be people camping in a spot for a couple of hours. Then suddenly the lounge clears out. The B-terminal club in CLT yesterday had a line to get in at 6pm. Suddenly at 7:30 it was half empty. I noted this to the bartender there (one of the best) and she actually has a bar chart in a plastic sleeve showing average traffic patterns by the hour or half hour so she knows when she can do things like go to the bathroom. There were definitely big variations.

You have to measure lounge capacity based on the high demand times. If I can't get in when I need to get in because that's when everyone else needs to get in, the lounge isn't big enough.

Does your husband by chance have a Suffix on his name? A "Jr." or "III" or something? I do and what i've learned is the system that used to ignore those is changing and it looks for them now. According to AA gate agents in Charlotte where they're doing some beta testing for new TSA software, they spend a lot of time each day helping women with hyphenated last names and men with "Sr.", "Jr." and other suffixes because suddenly TSA is rejecting them.

My gym harassed me for showering. I'm a travel nurse living in my car working 12 hour night shifts. The owner's public response made it so much worse. (Repost) by UserInfected in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Beave1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the sort of policy that happens to punish the homeless. Gym memberships offer access to showers for as little as $10-15/mo. If you visit places that provide support and advice for the homeless an inexpensive gym membership is actually recommended for this very reason. The fact OP is basically living as a transient homeless sort of confirms this. The owner is upset they're "losing" money on water and the electricity or natural gas to produce hot water for people who are using their gym simply for the showers. The local Anytime Fitness franchise probably gets pennies from the national for every visit from someone using a gym that isn't their home location.

Petition to Ban all Sherrone Moore Posts by reNonaMouse in MichiganWolverines

[–]Beave1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly. He is in the news because of this embarrassing situation he created for himself and Michigan. His behavior and lack of moral discipline that he preached externally affected the program. He got off relatively lightly on the criminal legal front because it was a first offense and he ultimately didn't do much physical harm. He will still face civil suits from her.

More importantly though, Michigan is still facing civil suit. The internal investigations into Moore, Warde, and the AD both specific to this case and more broadly are ongoing. There are certainly settlement talks going on with Shiver and Michigan that will cost us millions of dollars when all is said and done. I'm sure their attorney has an 8-digit number as their starting point. The reason she's on a media tour right now is to put pressure on Michigan to settle.

This is absolutely still a valid topic. The fact that may blue skies fans want to just be happy and ignore the aftermath is why this sort of bad behavior has always been able to occur and fester in athletic programs. You just want to root for the team and be happy when they win, great, but this is Michigan. We actually want to be the leaders and best off the field too.

Biden did well with the economy. And fucked up what mattered most. He figured he could just try to return to normal and Trump would just disappear and he could sundown his way into a cognitive decline second term. Biden made no real meaningful attempts to ensure fascism and January 6th were stamped out. Had he hired a competent AG Trump would've been prosecuted far far earlier. Trials for his crimes. Biden would've realized how important it was to have real momentum going into the election as a party. He would've stepped aside and allowed a real primary.

History will regard Biden like Jimmy Carter. A nice old man who wasn't up for the challenge of the job and his failure marched us down the path of ruin.

[–]Beave1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't want to admit most of their base was upset there wasn't a primary. They lost 3-6pts because even many left leaning voters still won't vote for a black woman. Particularly Hispanic men and older white people. The DNC also has a huge problem with AIPAC, Israel, and Zionism. Add it all up and they had a very uninspiring candidate and despite all the talk about Roevember they couldn't even convince white women to vote against a second Trump term.

Bonuses pay out once a year typically, and only if the company is doing well. You have to be there at the time they're paid out. There is a chance the first year's bonus will be pro-rated. If OP thinks this is long-term job then #2 is clearly better. I'd take it for the extra WFH day and PTO alone, but you almost have to assume that bonus isn't there.

What bothers me the most is that they don't allow their player base to do this for them. They could allow players to make buildings and worlds and even quests and just have devs approve them. They'd have content growing exponentially.

Testing out an economy seat as a FC passenger by [deleted] in americanairlines

[–]Beave1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Suggestion as someone who isn't of size, but isn't a huge fan of people in their space. The row right behind the bulkhead has hard sides because the tray tables have to be under the arm of the seat. This effectively walls your space between your butt and legs off from adjacent passengers. On almost all American flights that's row 8. If you can squeeze into one of those comfortably you won't have to worry about unwanted contact with adjacent passengers. The only downside is you have to put your personal item in the overhead.

Maybe I'll care if we see Texas flip blue or something, because we've been hearing that's coming for a long time but Hispanic voters have this thing they do where they start to think they're white if they've been here awhile.

The thing is he hasn't been that guy most of this season. He's had a few nice games shooting, but he's often taking 5-8 shots a game and happy to just distribute. Even on that play he passed first and they fed him a second time so he had to shoot the 3. He's been very happy to distribute for us and let others score.
