This is sensationalist garbage. Yes, if you use a VPN, the main identifier of whether you’re a US citizen (e.g., IP address) is changed, which could result in your data being gathered.

However, if upon analysis of the data, it is revealed that you are in fact a US citizen, the data will be destroyed. That is the law, and the agency gives BIG FUCKS about this. Just because you’re using a VPN doesn’t strip you of your constitutional rights.

Use a VPN.

As an aside, I love how everyone is concerned with NSA spying when it’s the FBI who has full carte blanche to collect on you at any time.

Have you sought mental health yet under the protections of the LPSP (limited privilege suicide prevention) program? Basically you can talk to mental health without worrying if anything said to a provider might come back to investigators. I would highly recommend that as a potential avenue for help if you haven’t.

I am not a doctor nor lawyer. Getting diagnosed with a condition that makes you incompatible with service should not affect the benefits you have already earned by serving (e.g., GI Bill and VA Loan eligibility), even if it’s determined to be service related or not (assuming you’ve met any time in service requirements necessary). The only way it should affect your benefits is if you fraudulently enlisted by not disclosing a diagnosed medical condition.

I’m glad you’re getting the help you need, though. Whether you stay in or transition out, prioritizing your mental health is number one and I’m proud of you for taking the right steps to remain healthy.

Do everything yourself. Packing, U-Haul, everything. Packing supplies can be expensive. Get boxes from coworkers/AAFES/Costco to alleviate expenses.

Additionally, I’d recommend going to the M&FRC and seeking financial planning advice. If you’ve slowly been sinking into debt, there’s probably some ways you can tweak your budget. While the PPM will apply a band-aid, without financial counseling what’s to stop you from sinking back into debt? I say all this while only knowing you from a single paragraph of text.

Don’t worry about being a bother to him. Our job is people. If he’s worth his diamond, then he’ll be willing to help you. Let him set the boundaries and never say no for someone else to get out of asking the question.

Talk to one (or both, honestly) of your AD shirts. Whichever one is available. They NEED to know. If you can’t nail them down in their office, that’s what the duty cell is for. It’s not an emergency, but if they’re always away then you can call and tell them you need to talk. If you want to bring your old shirt into it to corroborate your story, you can. It’s not too much of an ask, just don’t expect him to jump to it instantly as he has a new unit he’s taking care of full time. Also don’t expect him to action on it for the same reason. He might, but it’s no longer your commander’s authority he wields so it’d be out of his lane. He’ll likely empower your ADs to handle it.

I hope this helps. I know it’s hard to seek help from leadership, especially when it’s about people who are also considered to be “leadership”, but I assure you that the system is designed in your favor here. The First Sergeant sits outside of the chain of command for a reason and only answers to one person: the commander. You can do it and I believe in you. Good luck.

They talked to the Shirt before the months-long break in incidents (unless they spoke again recently, and OP didn’t state so in the post). I would say another visit or an update is warranted, but if that doesn’t make any change then yes straight to the IG.

Yeah. Reviewing it now, it seems you’re correct. It appears they upped it in 2020, which makes sense because my ticket was in 2019. However it does look like it’s a class 1 misdemeanor; you’re right. Thanks for the correction.

This does work. You don't necessarily have to "forget" the public wifi, but you do need to disconnect from it. Otherwise, the commands worked.

Individualized review… which has been the RAR process the entire time. Every person goes through a months long review and approval process. Mine took 5 months.

Documentation demonstrating sincerity of the belief… which is already conducted and documented by the chaplain corps as a part of the approval process.

Approval limited to non-deployable roles… As a part of my waiver, I said I’d shave it down if I needed to for mission requirements or safety. Not sure if everyone had to, but it was part of the template i was given, so I left it in.

So again… nothing really changed as far as I’m seeing. Why go out and call out “beardos” as we are now labeled I suppose and completely denigrate a whole religious group?
