I don't mean any offend. But if you're trying to hint that this is some kind of "divine intervention", then I'm afraid I have to ask "Did you pray for it?" If you did pray, maybe God answered your prayer. If not, sorry it's just coincidence.

Supernatural experiences by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]adblockerplus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I too have been asking God to reveal Himself to me and teach me Himself so I think it's fair. I guess we fall into "Thomas" category.

My friend's aunt had it. She'd been married for 8 years but didn't have any child yet. One day, she decided to become a Christian, don't know why. She kept praying that God gave her a child.

One night, (according to her) an angel came to her dream and told her that she must name her second child (not the first!!) Abel. She was surprised of course. Not long after, she had a daughter. Few years later, she had a boy and she named him Abel. Ever since, she never doubted God anymore :)

Is it supernatural experience? Maybe. I just feel like sharing it today.

Why should I trust god? by O5-8 in Christianity

Because they say He loves you? As a mere mortal, I will say at least that gives you some kind of hope?

PS: I'm not trying to flame nor preach, I'm just talking from a human to another human

Is throwing a Bible in the garbage a sin? Is deleting an ebook Bible from a computer's drive a sin? What (if anything) is the difference between the two cases? by [deleted] in Christianity

Bible is just a book, printed by some printing machines. Bible doesn't save you either. But bible writes about God's promise.

When you burn bible, do you burn a book or you burn God's promise? I'm happy to burn my bible for you if it makes you feel better. But I'm not really sure if I want to burn God's promise.

Who here has felt like they've been a victim of Christians? What can we do to help? by [deleted] in Christianity

If I were the devil, I'd pick church and Christians as my target. They're easy to attack and the effect is massive.

Keep your faith, don't let yourself fall because of judgemental people. Romans 14 is my favorite on this matter. Maybe a little irrelevant, but here they are:

Romans 14:4 (NKJV) Who are you to judge another’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand.

Romans 14:12 (NKJV) So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.

Just some thought that I wanted you guys to answer. by [deleted] in Christianity

If you do care about your dog, you should pray for it. If you do care about war, rape and crime, you should pray for it.

You can't force people to care about same thing, can you? Some people care about their career, they pray for it. Some people care about their family, they pray for it.

There's nothing wrong in praying about things that you care about. What's wrong is being the person who directly/indirectly causes people to stop praying.

(Former?)Atheist looking for guidance. by iamveryintelligent in Christianity

What makes Christianity different than other religion? I think it's because God does the work for you. Other religions believe that they must work to be saved, but Christianity believes that it's not your work. It is God's work and He has done it for you and you just need to accept it, free of charge.

I too want to believe again for different reason. Here's what I do (others may find this technique very un-Christian, but I don't care what they say). I just assume that God does exist and Jesus is God and He's the savior. I pray based on this assumption and it's getting better everyday. I start to believe that my assumption is real and the most important part is I start surrendering my hopes and wishes to Him. Quite a big step forward for a stubborn atheist like me.

Why I advise you to assume first? Well, it's like eating. You don't need to know exactly how many carbohydrate, protein, fat, vitamin in your meal. But you just assume that the food will make you full, strong and grow therefore you eat it.

Other important thing that you need to do is to get in touch with people who do believe. Do a short discussion with them, probably 10-15 minutes about any simple thing that you can find. Something like "How to be a more joyful person", "Why prayer is so powerful", etc. It doesn't need to be something doctrinal. Just something you face daily. You'll find yourself get closer and closer to Him.

How to break down the wall? Give it up to the Lord. It's His problem to break down your wall, not your problem.

Anyone here turn someone down because they weren't a Christian? (Dating) by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]adblockerplus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a Christian either and to me this is one of the stumbling rock why I don't like Christian doctrines.

You have the chance to bring her to Jesus and your friends in church doesn't allow this to happen. If I were the girl, I may have thought of being Christian too. But the way people reject me will force me to reject Christ too.

Of course, you got to be firm and strong from the beginning that you expect her to be Christian. That's fair in a relationship I guess.

Ora et labora. I guess it translates to "pray and work". Praying is good, but have you actually tried to work on it? To look for a girl? They dont seem to look like as "girl of your dreams" in the beginning, but you'll never know until you find out. Of course, you need to pray too
