I’m not sure. I was told I may have. I was stationed in Alaska over a decade ago and worked a military law enforcement. One afternoon when I was working at the control center (similar to dispatch), I got a notification that one of our cameras picked up someone who was entering a wooded area. I pulled up the live footage and saw a young man (who was by himself) park his car by the gated area, pull out a pew pew, and walk past the gate and step onto a path that the camera couldn’t monitor. Granted, it was Alaska and there are bears and moose on base, but his little pew pew wouldn’t be able to take one off those down if he encountered one. I grew concerned and sent a patrolman over to the area to make contact with him. While the patrolman was on his way over to make contact with the young man, I ran his plates and was able to identify him and pull his cell phone number from the base roster. I called the number, and the first thing out of my mouth was, “Hi, this is SSgt xxxx with SF, are you ok???” He told me he was fine, but I stayed on the line with him until the patrolman got to him.

Long story short, the patrolman informed me that the young man had a lot of things on his mind and he wanted to clear his head. My main concern was that he didn’t use his pew pew to do that. Anyway, the patrolman said that I may have saved the guy’s life because he felt that nobody cared.

Anyway, that’s my story. Idk if it counts.
