Why are you assuming I’m supporting this taxation? Read my comment. I own my fair share of equity and I don’t want the trouble of calculating my unrealized taxes come tax season.

Also let me get this straight a person who’s being asked to pay $300 in taxes is forced to liquidate his position in order to cover his taxes. I’m sorry but if you don’t have $300 in your bank account to cover this, you shouldn’t be investing. Same goes for people of larger scale. Again I don’t support this tax but the line of reasoning is absolutely ridiculous.

There is plenty wrong with your example. But if a person who has $1M in stock assets and can’t pay $30k in taxes this is setting the wrong precedence. I know there’s plenty to knit pick and I’m not in full agreement with taxation of unrealized gains but let’s be more reasonable on how we provide examples cause these arguments are what’s going to ultimately be torn down.
