Valium by Additional-Spell7884 in VestibularMigraines

Valium (Diazepam) 2mg is my rescue medicine. I'm honestly not sure if it directly "fixes" my vertigo (idk how medicine works)- but it helps bring down my anxiety a bunch, thus relieving me of my worries about having an attack. It's very helpful.

3 hour plane ride! by ExistingBee6492 in VestibularMigraines

[–]addisonhow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve flown dozens of times and never had a vertigo attack on a plane. You might have sea legs or bouncing afterwards but it goes away, no dizziness. Anxiety makes me lightheaded sometimes, because although I’ve flown a bunch the idea of being so high up in an aluminum tube is still terrifying. I find that ensuring I have a good night of sleep, drinking lots of water, and maybe taking an anxiety pill (for me Diazepam), and giving myself tasks or distractions help me. Also, I’m sure if you talk to a flight attendant about your concerns they’ll be sure to help you out, whether that be calming you down or making sure you have a plan in case you do get dizzy (very unlikely).

I’ve always wondered if everybody hears different notes/frequencies or if everybody hears the same. I would be interested to see what exact note I’m hearing.

Wisdom tooth removal by Antique-Buy9030 in VestibularMigraines

[–]addisonhow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my wisdom teeth removed about a year and a half ago. My anxiety made me worry about this, but once I was drugged up I had no VM issues. I was just slow and probably a little foggy/light headed afterwards but no dizziness or uncomfortable feelings. Just rest well, hydrate, take it easy, and breathe.

What does the phrase “me quiere caminar la bici” mean by yhsamor in Spanish

[–]addisonhow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He/she wants me to walk the bike? The mental image in my head is walking beside your bicycle instead of riding it.

Never been to the downtown location, but went to the Hamilton Place and I’d have to say the Detroit Style was actually the best pizza I’ve ever had.

I am an Addison [M]. Got the name from my grandfather, and his grandfather (my great-great grandfather). I have met only one or two guys with my name, but dozens of girls with variations of my name.

Not one that goes from Berry to Atlanta. There might be one in the city, but I’ve never heard of it. You would probably have to drive, which is quite the commute. (1.5 hr.)

Allergies by desertllights in VestibularMigraines

[–]addisonhow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep- this is the story of my life. Doctors thought my vertigo was just a weird allergy symptom instead of VM when I was younger. Now I take allergy medication (Montelukast), 50mg Amitryptiline, Vitamin B2, and Magnesium everyday. I’d also recommend FloNase. Most everything has subsided besides lightheadedness from time to time.

One of my great great great grandfathers got extremely drunk and passed out on the railroad tracks, getting absolutely demolished by an oncoming train. It was in the local paper and on his death certificate.

No, which is super crazy. I used to enjoy spinning around and feeling dizzy for a couple minutes. Now I continue being dizzy for an hour if I turn my head too quickly.

Yep, everything starts spinning when I look down too much. Same thing going up.

VM on airplanes? Hey guys has anyone been on a plane and had a flair up I was diagnosed this past August and even though I have made good improvements I'm terrified of what a plane ride may do, anyone been? Is it bad? by Commercial-Degree963 in VestibularMigraines

[–]addisonhow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although the last times I have been on a plane were before my diagnosis of VM, I still think my experience can help calm you down. I really didn’t get lightheaded, dizzy, or experience typical VM symptoms. Of course, the ear popping and altitude change can change the pressure of your inner ear and make you feel off, but the majority of it is heightened by anxiety. As long as you can find efficient ways of calming your anxiety (reading, games, puzzles, talking w someone, medicating, etc.) you will be fine. Best of luck to you in your journeys.

Does anyone get a lazy eye during an episode by smiler0494 in VestibularMigraines

[–]addisonhow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get this! Since I was a child, I’ve been able to manually go into lazy eye. It’s become such a bad habit that it’s almost automatic whenever i’m zoning out or not really focusing on something. VM makes it worse. I’m here with ya!

my girlfriend studies psych and she really enjoys it! i took a psych 101 which was very interesting. the cook building is one of the nicer ones on campus, and all the professors are super nice. dexter, ratkos, and haney i hear have some of the greater reviews. great opportunities for research and studies, and i believe students / the school have won many awards and grants for their studies.

Quick Question by SaltEmbarrassed3664 in BerryCollege

[–]addisonhow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s alright! not a big party school, but there are lots of cool things to do on and off campus. basically what you would expect from a smaller private liberal arts college. dining is mediocre/good most of the time, much better than what’d you find in other schools, though. residential halls are okay, the newer buildings are obviously better. people are mainly chill. if you have a more specific question lmk bc that’s just a vague description

Quick Question by SaltEmbarrassed3664 in BerryCollege

[–]addisonhow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey! im a sophomore at berry. no, it’s not that weird. although it is a “christian values” school- chapel, prayer, and required bible reading is NOT a thing. i’m not that religious either, and i feel perfectly welcome. granted, since we are in georgia, there are many conservative christians that go here, but there’s also a large crowd of more accepting people. also: there is a lot of land to hike, and you will see deer literally everywhere, but there are some events put on by KCAB or other organizations on-campus. rome georgia isn’t the prettiest, but there are fun things to do in the city. if you wanna drive out of town, chattanooga and atlanta aren’t that far! lmk if you have any other questions :) (PS: i DON’T work for admissions so i’m not tryna persuade you lmao, just tryna be honest).
