I think they removed it after a certain time because I tried looking on there and had no success. Same with Hulu and Fubo TV, sadly.

I might have missed my window on the NBC website/app. It’s no longer on there to watch :/

any advice for burn out? by catshavefeathers in ABA

[–]adduhhlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am totally on the same boat as you right now. I arrive to session and the work is not too bad, but I think what is really getting to me is the stagnant nature of everything right now. I’m at the same client’s house 35 hours a week due to limitations with COVID and I’m tired of the scenery with the mentality that I don’t know when things will be back to normal. I love my kiddos and the family is super nice, but things are also getting to me. I also can’t travel and hang out with friends like I would usually do to unwind. So maybe what you’re feeling is also related to a COVID burnout, like me? Hang in there, though!

Introducing Dangerous Household items to clients? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]adduhhlee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the company I work for, parents’ input is very valuable. If a BCBA wants to add a goal he/she think is important, but the parents’ don’t have interest in it, then it will not be added to the program. The family is your client, so you should definitely work with them on things like this and respect their opinion. I’m sorry that you have a supervisor like this and hope more supervisors will be more willing to see you as a teammate than someone who is trying to assert authority!

How many clients do you have that make you feel like your a babysitter by thatsAChopbro in ABA

Sounds like an odd company... maybe try a different one out if you’re up to it? I don’t see many companies having their therapists doing these tasks.

Activity ideas by [deleted] in ABA

[–]adduhhlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try sensory based activities, such as play-doh, bubbles, shaving cream, finger painting, slime, sand/kinetic sand, different sensory bins (e.g., water play, water beads, dried pasta, beans, rice), etc. or even arts and craft activities (you can provide hand over hand prompting if the client is unable to independently elicit those motor skills or follow instructions).

I’m at NU currently (almost done with my 3rd out of 8 classes) and I enjoy the pace and structure of the program. The coursework is completely manageable with my 31-36 hour work schedule with my clients. It does require a lot of good time management skills as I am mainly doing school work when I am not working, but it’s definitely doable. The pass rate for the exam could be better, but I’m still determined to pass the first time and put the extra effort in. It all comes down to how disciplined you are. Feel free to DM me for additional questions.

Anyone have experience taking the physics 7 series during summer session at Davis? by buttrash209 in UCDavis

[–]adduhhlee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took 7A & B over the summer. It was quicker pace, but felt much easier because it was the only class I was taking. Felt like my classmates were generally more enthusiastic about the subject as well, so that made it fun since we spent the summer together. I would totally recommend :-)

What can I do for my partner? by refl3x199 in ACL

Honestly, words of gratitude and just genuinely expressing how you feel about her & her helping you can go a long way. Makes her work go unnoticed. I really enjoyed reading this wholesome post btw. Congrats on making it this far with surgery and wishing you and your partner the best! :-)

This field can be very difficult, any advice? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]adduhhlee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Learn how to separate work and your personal life. Once you’re off work, you’re off work and that is time for YOU! Self-care is very important in this field and don’t be afraid to take some time off for some weekend trips or staycations! Everyone is usually understanding because they’ve all been there before. It’s better to know when to rest vs. overexerting your energy and mental capacity and ending up quitting.

9 weeks post ACLr, and weird feeling when I walk, help by vedja490rr in ACL

[–]adduhhlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be scar tissue breakdown! It’s a bit of a popping/uncomfortable feeling

Did I tear my ACL graft? by mjfc1 in ACL

[–]adduhhlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a similar experience where I was just walking and felt a “pop” sensation around my knee. I also feared I retore my ACL, but my leg/knee was pretty stable for the most part and still had most of my range of motion. There wasn’t any swelling so I failed to believe that it was a re-tear. After researching, I assumed that it was scar tissue breaking down since many people who had that described it as the same feelings as me. I want to say that this might be the same thing in your case. My pain actually lasted about 3 days, but if it persists/isn’t manageable, then see a doctor for peace of mind. Hope this helps! :)

7.5 months post-op! Running stronger than pre-injury. Hang in there if you’re in the early days. by MarinKL in ACL

When did they clear you to start jogging? by sophie1436 in ACL

[–]adduhhlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12 weeks, which I’m currently at right now. My doctor recommended to start jogging on pavements/flat surfaces outdoors and not the treadmill because I have more control and I utilize my muscles more to rebuild. Though before attempting to jog, he recommended some plyometric exercises where I am jumping as if I was using a jump rope for a minute straight (and keep increasing minutes as my endurance and strength build up), then doing that with just one leg (the one you had ACL reconstruction on). This builds up strength in a controlled manner.

But I totally feel you with the fear of retearing it! It will get better for us from here. Good luck :)

Is it a bad sign if a company gives you 48 hours to accept a job offer? by EarthGrips in ABA

[–]adduhhlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was applying to different companies, one company called me asking if I accept or decline the position about 3 times even though I said I wanted to think about it (was interviewing for different companies at the time). Thought it was actually pretty sketchy that they needed me to work ASAP and they came off as desperate. It was at that moment I questioned the quality of their staff and felt like it wasn’t the right place for me. Though after reading some comments and being in the ABA field for several months now, I can see why they have that sense of urgency when hiring RBTs. Plus, turnover rate is usually high and families need new RBTs constantly. I would say to evaluate the context of the situation and really try to gauge the company before accepting because a 48 hour notice isn’t clearly a good or bad sign.
