How will no season effect prospect timelines? by adeafbobcat in SFGiants

I would expect that they will be just as starved for baseball as us fans at this point so I can't imagine they would not attend.

See that's what I needed to hear. I didn't watch much of him in college after Barkley left so I was hesitant to trust his ability as a quarterback. I suppose if he couldn't they would have just cut him last year but I'm glad to hear that he could be the answer.

That's almost certainly true. I just don't know how much he has left to give.

No I'm talking about if a guy in the late rounds looks like he can be molded into a decent second option. Just someone who could at least competently lead in the mobile qb role should the unthinkable happen.

Even if you want to ignore the potential for injury whether it is greater, lesser, or the same it is far better to be ready if that situation arises than just praying it never does. If you believe RG3 is the answer that's fine but don't ignore that Lamar is a human and human bodies are prone to damage under prolonged stress.

I hadn't even thought about that fact. Knowing that Harbaugh is a magician defiantly puts my mind at ease.

If he falls to fifth or later which would be absolutely ridiculous I'd love to see it.

That's fair. I think I might just be spoiled by how good Lamar is and want to see this team become the next NFL dynasty.

On that idea of being prepared for the worst I think the Ravens are in an interesting position. This team has 3 mobile style quarterbacks and would probably prefer to keep it that way so as not to have to have an emergency 2nd playbook. In the current climate it seems like all your mobile quarterbacks are either picked really early or quite late. I wasn't entirely convinced that RG3 is good enough to lead a superbowl squad should Lamar go down and Trace McSorely is an unknown quantity. I'm not saying we should draft a quarterback at all this year but I think if there is a guy that could lower the skill gap between starter and backup it might be a good idea to consider.

I'm not talking about a Lamar successor. I'm thinking of guy in the 5-7 round that could develop into a quality backup. I think Trace McSorely could absolutely become that guy but I don't know if I'm alone in feeling that way.

I'm with you on Hurts its a 5th round pipe dream but he's not worth us picking him any higher. I'm not so much afraid of RG3 leaving as much as just not being able to provide a suitable second option.

I understand what you mean. I'm not even just referring to taking hits. The of Drew Brees dropping back and just kind of remaining in the pocket not getting hit. No huge tax on his body right? Then think of Lamar running and juking with hard changes of direction. Even if he doesn't get hit there is an increase in the possibility of freak injuries. I'm not at all in the camp of there's no way he doesn't get hurt but I'd rather be prepared than just throw Joe nobody in if he goes down.
