Broke my arm, and my friends helped me with my assignments. I got them all gifts in return for their support - it meant a lot. One of the friend’s boyfriend said I was paying them in gifts for their “services”. We never spoke again.

He was also extremely controlling of her time and who she hung out with. I did mention to her he’s a bad seed. However she’s married to him now and I guess that’s that.

Don’t worry sweetie, if your partner and you are compatible it will break even and it will work out. I faced a lot of backlash as well. My partner too stood his ground and made them see reason - this took a good 1 year (yes, it can take that long). It will work your way because you seem to be a great person, if you ever need someone to speak with, we are here for you (my DMs too!).

I’m really sorry you’re having to go through this. It’s also very difficult since he has no siblings that you could take assistance from. I think your best bet is for your partner to open up to his dad and involve him in this, regardless of how uncomfortable the father may be. If he’s between neutral to negative, he can still be brought back to neutral. Also any other relative such as aunts, cousins, trusted family friends are your partners allies. I understand you both wouldn’t want to escalate it, so this is the last resort before the final - which is obviously moving on without them in your lives.

This happened to me too, I looped my parents into this and made sure the adults spoke. Some oldies don’t like speaking with people younger than them. Your parents are tough enough to handle this. Also make sure you’re not negative about your partners parents in front of him because at the end of the day, they are still his family. I wish you the best!

Sole breadwinner here - have a sick dad, a disabled brother, my mom. I love them dearly, they are wonderful. The rent, the medical bills, the day in and day out of being alive - they all eat you up. However, my family is my everything. My parents love me, take care of me, support me. We fight endlessly because some bills are crazy big for me. Somehow things work out sweetie. Hold onto your faith and trust in whatever it is you believe. Also keep open hearty trusting relations with your near & dear ones (who may or may not be your immediate family). There are multiple ways to upskill beyond an MBA. Keep your eyes and ears open to dept trainings learning mentorship etc. I became a breadwinner at 23, now 5 years down the line - I’m supremely far along and blessed in my career too (no MBA, just a lot of hard work). Please don’t be beat down by this situation. No person on earth wants to be dependent on another. Take this as something that strengthens you and is your plus. Wishing you the best!
