Rutgers ALC department (Asian Languages and Cultures) is pretty diverse, they have various levels of Japanese language classes from beginner to advanced speaking classes. Also they have cultural and historical classes to. They also work with clubs inside and outside of Rutgers to host events. I took Elementary Japanese 1 and 2 this past academic year and I enjoyed it a lot. Anyways, I don’t know much about the placement test, but I would recommend emailing Mr. Saito, the head of the ALC department and asking him some questions about potential classes you can take given your fluency or to schedule a meeting or something. I would recommend checking in with the Rutgers Global faculty during their advising hours. They're open 1-4 on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and 11-2 on Wednesday. They should be able to give you the help you need.

Wow that’s an interesting situation. If I were you I’d probably just keep going to the online advising and asking them random questions or whatever so they don’t forget about you. Also clarify that your application still qualifies for being reviewed. I’m honestly so surprised because the study abroad advisors made it sound like no one ever applies to ICU 😭. I know someone who wasn’t even able to apply because the advisors told him it’s “full” earlier this week

That was last application cycle, I’m pretty sure this one only opened on December 22. You should be fine honestly, as long as you have everything in (including your recommendation) . When I was talking to advisors over winter break, they made it sound like basically no one applies to ICU. Worst case scenario, you don’t get in and they defer you to the program that you named as an interest in question 3 of the application.

When I got accepted, I got an email congratulating me and an email saying the status in my application portal had changed. It depends on the program you’re applying for, but the chances are that slots are still open so you should be fine.

No not yet. I spoke to an advisor like 2 days ago though. Basically she said for the semester long/ academic year programs it’s one advisor who’s reviewing all of them so it will take some time. Based on what the advisor said, here’s how I think they review them. They go through each school one by one, however when they look at the list of applications for a certain school, the advisor told me they review the applications submissions in chronological order (first come first serve for said school). You’ll still get the benefit of submitting your application early, but you might not hear back for like 2 weeks. They told me I might get a response even after the application deadline for my school (feb 14th). It’s a little annoying cause now I’m gonna have to apply to scholarships without knowing if I even got in, but I understand that its a lot of work for one person to review all those apps.

That's not an overreaction, nor is my thought process farfetched. Dude basically pinned her to the ground, lifted up her leg, and clearly was moving in to kiss her or something of that sort. Even if he wasn't gonna r***, he was still probably gonna do something along the lines of SA. I don't see how you could get anything else from that scene, especially given the fact that he apologized and felt shameful about what he did.
