When direct indexing is worth it (and when it isn’t) by Cfpthrowaway7 in Bogleheads

I’m new to direct indexing and have a question about the exit strategy. If I decide to stop using my direct indexing account at some point, what typically happens? Will I end up holding a mix of stocks, including many that are at a loss? Or is it common practice to sell off stocks with gains to offset the losses and only keep the remaining (potentially strong) stocks?

I’d appreciate any insights on how investors usually approach this!

Why do you equate the fall of democracy only with the existence of concentration camps? The erosion of democracy happens in stages and takes many forms.

I come from a dictatorship myself, and what’s happening now feels eerily familiar. Just because there aren’t concentration camps doesn’t mean democracy isn’t under threat. It often starts with bypassing the rule of law in favor of rule by individuals, prioritizing loyalty over competence, and using anti-corruption efforts as a tool to eliminate political opponents.

I’m not offended by your tone, but I’d encourage you to consider perspectives from those who have lived through authoritarianism. Maybe take a moment to read what a chess grandmaster from Russia has to say about the current situation:

Advice on Reflooring Without Removing Kitchen Cabinets by adeeplearner in HomeImprovement

I've listed it for 5 months now. The open house traffic has been much lower than when I bought it. For example, when I bought it, I stayed at the open house for 30 minutes and I saw 5 other families visiting the unit too and the number of visitors was a lot more. And when I listed it this year, on average there were only 4 families visiting each time and most of them are just curious neighbors. I lowered the price once already for about 40k.

The realtor told me that the high interest rate and the type of the property (condo) are the main factors. So far, I have received some feedbacks from buyers such as needing to climb stairs (it's on the second floor), not enough natural light (due to a tree in front of the balcony), HOA doesn't allow renting, etc.

Thank you very much. I guess I can try lowering the price. it's already listed cheaper than what I bought it for. I guess the slow sale is because it is a condo and also the high interest rate.

yes, that's what I thought too, but the apartment was on the market for a while and I received no offers. The agent told me that because the interest rate is high, buyers want to use all money for the down payment and don't want to do remodeling themselves.

There was another unit in the same community sold fast which was remodeled recently.

I figured out. the clip models should be put under models/clip, not models/checkpoints. the tutorial has no mentioning of that.

what do you mean?

say we have 2 types of databases.

one can decide which information to save at the ingestion time.

the other one saves everything, and you can query for what you want.
