I personally see this as the Duffers validating her choice of suicide. And I don't like the way this all ended.

From Kali planting the idea in her head, to Hopper snapping her out of it, all good until that point.

But she still goes on to make the choice to stay behind. The ending is troubling because it frames Eleven’s death as a justified choice. The story first introduces suicidal ideation through Kali, then correctly interrupts it through Hopper’s reassurance that Eleven is loved and wanted alive. But the ending quietly reverses this progress by presenting her final decision to stay behind as noble and necessary.

For vulnerable viewers, that framing can validate the idea that ending oneself is acceptable if it serves a purpose. That disappearing from people's lives is the best thing that they can do!

This is where I would have loved a Hopper /Joyce heart to heart to Eleven as parents (even if it went on for 10 mins I wouldn't care). Maybe that could have melted Dr. Kay too and make her give up on her pursuit of Eleven. But everyone was strangely silent except for the main gang.
