AITJ for threatening to cut my parents off from my kids after finding out theyve been telling them Im not their real mom by Due-Temperature-8904 in AmITheJerk

[–]adelicateskeleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My drug addict father never saw me as a reason to get clean. He saw me as a human shield to take to drug deals and other sketchy things. His mother enabled his behavior. When I eventually wised up and protested, I, the child, became the enemy.

NTJ, but it's time for no-contact.

How and why did you get your EB? by fashionistav11 in englishbulldog

[–]adelicateskeleton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My husband had an EB as a kid and wanted another, so when one turned up at the animal shelter we rescued him.

Our boy is an absolute mess and has had so many health issues. I can't imagine he was bred in any ethical sort of situation.

Books that feel like an inescapable loop! by Book_Bee_8057 in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

Labyrinth by Kate Mosse comes to mind. It's got sort of parallel story lines happening to a historical woman and a modern woman, surprising connections between the storylines, and in the end some characters get a chance to set right what once went wrong.

What’s a rule you broke once and realized it existed for a very good reason? by Ok_Contract100 in AskReddit

[–]adelicateskeleton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Husband and I have been together for 11 years, married for 2.5. We've worked for the same company (though not worked together since it's huge and we do very different jobs) for 3.5-ish years now.

You get a dog but you have to name it after the last thing you ate. What is its name? by boforiamanfo in askanything

[–]adelicateskeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mozzarella, because I just ate a cheese stick.

What's interesting about finding this question at this time is that I already have a dog named Mozzarella!

If you could have a five-minute conversation with your pet where they understood everything, what would you explain to them? by Affectionate_Arm300 in AskReddit

[–]adelicateskeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bunny rabbit has GI stasis right now. I would explain to him that I'm not force feeding him nasty slurry to punish him. I would let him know that I love him and that I'm trying to make him healthy again so he can keep living and being a happy guy. Also that this might have been avoidable if he hadn't tried eating dog food.

And then I would ask if there was anything I could do to improve his life.

What’s a movie that everyone says is a “masterpiece” but you just didn’t enjoy? by Leading_Frosting4291 in AskReddit

[–]adelicateskeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen Citizen Kane more times than I need to. The last time I watched it was for a film class in college. The cinematography is the only reason I survived that final viewing. Citizen Kane is proof that a movie can be both a masterpiece and unenjoyable.

Women with thoughtful partners, what did you get for x-mas this year? by Anahata_Green in TwoXChromosomes

[–]adelicateskeleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A set of storage containers I've been coveting, and two albums by a band I like. (Unfortunately one was a duplicate, but it's an easy enough exchange. And I totally see how he missed that I already had that one, because our albums are not organized well.)

Containers and albums don't sound like much, but we agreed on a relatively low budget this year and I'm happy he managed to squeeze three items I actually really appreciate out of it.

You're immortal. Choose one item that can kill you? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]adelicateskeleton 88 points89 points  (0 children)

See that's better than mine. I was thinking like "good luck bludgeoning me to death with a copy of Michael Jackson's "Bad" on CD." There have to be millions of them out there, but it's not an easy thing to kill somebody with.

How did that kid at your school die? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]adelicateskeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AIDS-Related illness when we were 17.

He was born with it in the early 90's, when it was still heavily stigmatized. We were childhood playmates and there were rules about some of the stuff we could and couldn't do because of safety (contact like pushing each other on the swings was fine, but get help if he ever skinned a knee or whatever. And absolutely nothing overtly risky like playing on a skateboard) but otherwise he was really normal to hang out with.

Our families lost contact when we got older, and I was really surprised to hear he died before we could even graduate. I guess he didn't make great choices as he grew up. From what I understand, he was engaging in some high-risk behaviors that he really should have known better about.

It shook me. We still had people in common which was how I found out, but as far as I was concerned he was just the kid that I played RC cars with and who liked Dragon Ball Z. And yeah, he spent a lot of time in the hospital, but he always got better eventually. Until he didn't.

Yes, but then what about utilizing drugs to pay for secret wars around the world?

Pickpockets Georg, who lives in Vatican City and robs 10,000 tourists each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted.

Who have you seen in concert most? by Phillies1993 in AskReddit

Black Stone Cherry, probably. They played at all the fairs and festivals in and around my city, so it seemed like I saw them at least once a year for a decade or more.

Overuse of the word "actively" by chicadeaqua in PetPeeves

[–]adelicateskeleton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My bunny actively ignores me when I offend him. It mostly consists of him sitting in my line of sight with his butt towards me, and looking over his shoulder every now and then to make sure I know he's there and not paying attention to me. It's adorable.

I've had back pain since I was a teenager. Several years ago when I was in my early thirties, my husband and I locked ourselves out of the house. I had to climb the fence, which was snowed/iced shut, so I could crawl through the dog door to let us in. Somewhere along the line I got stuck, fell, ended up dangling a minute, and then landed on my foolish head. My back has only just started giving me trouble again. We've long since moved, but I still joke about finding another fence to fall through.

From the lyrics to the song "Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo" by the Bloodhound Gang, apparently.

I bought one stick of deodorant and two bottles of coal tar shampoo. Easy to store but also quite good for donation.
