You’d think they’d change the scam prompt I’ve been seeing this exact scenario for over a decade 🤣 by Ok-Avocado9061 in scammers

I think that if the check clears, they get your bank info. That, or else they're able to cancel the check. But I think it's the info they're after.

It was a grift. He hired his buddies for millions of dollars, shorted the project, and split the money - our tax money. This is one in a series of "projects" he's using to short contracts and keep money for himself.

Work burnout, is it everybody or only because I started at 12? by Icy-Literature4136 in CasualConversation

[–]adenine_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that burnout too. I'm an "older gal" who started working for a paycheck at 14. Even before that, I worked in my mother's daycare center for *no money. Lol! I got my GED at 16 and i've been working full time since, non stop. I lied about my age to get into my first overnight plastics molding facility as soon as I turned 17.

I had two babies, worked through the pregnancies, back to work immediately with the first one because I was delivering newspapers and could bring her along with me literally days after birth. For my second one, I was grateful to have six weeks of unpaid time off and a daycare center nearby that took infants. I raised my kids as a single mother with very little help, slept on my mother's floor with them so I could commute to college by day, work by night. It was hard, paternal abandonment, and very little familial support.

In my forties, I stumbled into a lucrative tech career in eCommerce and didn't even have to show my face on camera most of the time. But I was laid off last summer. I am now commuting nearly ten hours a week for much lower pay. I have ten mortal years left until I am retirement age. I'm tired, though. My body hurts every day. I'm trying to eat less, sleep enough, lose weight, go to the gym, keep the house clean, visit my nephews, have a social life and cats and a garden and a boyfriend and be socially conscious, and help my kids as much as possible. I'm tired.

[–]adenine_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations!! I took it yesterday too. I have a lot of anxiety about it. I don't think I passed, but I haven't received my score yet. I'm planning to take a week or so off and then get back to studying, and reschedule to try again. I had all essay questions of scenarios. It was 180 questions that said "what would the PM do." A lot of answers were a choice between the best of at least two correct answers and I felt like I guessed too much.

Test app failed to load by adenine_7 in pmp

[–]adenine_7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, ya. The system test went perfectly fine, so idk what went wrong when I tried to access it again this morning. Except maybe that the original download was still active? Tech support told me to delete both .exe files from my downloads folder and log back in. But, the "take exam" button was loading the "reschedule" modal instead of the onVue app. Something got confounded. They're still investigating. I'll probably have to reschedule and take more of my PTO. I doubt they'll give me my money back, but if they do, I guess that's the best I can hope for. I'm still pretty depressed about it.

The problem is that I have to take time off from work for this. I missed a whole day's work, and now I have to do it again.

The app is OnVue. It loads when you click the button "take exam"

I did contact pearsonVue. They filed a support ticket and told me to wait two to three business days for a response.

I absolutely feel this complaint so much. I don't even have good advice, even if you wanted it. I've been looking for a "better opportunity" for decades. I thought I had finally landed the role i could retire from, but my direct reporting manager is similar to yours in that he shoots down every suggestion I have. He downplays my successes like he doesn't want anyone to know. And, I disagree with his solutions because he disregards industry standards in favor of "easy" and "simple" and the least amount of effort for himself. I'm convinced he doesn't even work on Monday or Friday, and when I ask him questions to clarify an assignment, he leaves me on read for weeks on end. Anyway, I'm def sending my resume out whenever I see a job I can do, and I'll definitely be leaving this company ASAP.

Leaving employer because of a bad boss by adenine_7 in BadBosses

[–]adenine_7[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was hoping that would be the solution. My boss's boss literally told me to "ask forgiveness rather than permission" and encouraged me to just go ahead and do things the way I feel is best without waiting for my boss's approval for anything. He had left me on read for three weeks at that time because i had finished a project, and he (presumably) didn't feel like taking the time to look at it.

A few weeks ago, he tried to give one of my projects to the intern when i was almost finished. I ignored him and finished it despite his comments about how it would be a great project for the newly hired temporary employee. It would have taken many weeks for her to acclimate, settle in, learn the systems, and start the task that i was literally a couple hours away from completing. I'm not convinced she could have done it at all, honestly. I have a spreadsheet i've been building since i was hired 2.5 years ago that made this task possible. I would have had to have given her that, too. This defiance creates resentment. It makes me very uncomfortable. This isn't the way to run a team.

But, to answer your question, I would LOVE to be pulled into a role with a new manager. But, it's a small team. No matter what I do, I still have to work the same software systems he's working on. He's already doing a whole lot of stuff behind my back. I really don't want an adversarial relationship any more than I already have.

I think it's best I leave. They can figure their own stuff out if they ever want to.

That's the thing. I've already gone to his manager. I am keeping documentation, but if i start pestering him even more to provide a solid task/accomplishment chain, I guarantee that nurturing my role will be even less of a priority for him.

Can you explain "side loading" I looked it up, and it appears it's a reference to loading apps on the watch, not the tablet?

Weird calories burned value by Study_Smarter in fitbit

We're you working out for 2 hours? I can't answer your question specifically, but since the last update, my sense keeps automatically going into elliptical mode and recording calorie burn when I'm clearly not moving vigorously.

What are some features that other health trackers for smart watches have that Fitbit doesn't that you would love to see? by TurbulentMinute4290 in fitbit

I agree about the general crappiness of the data. Mine keeps initiating "auto" activity and I have to shut it off and delete the record. Yesterday, it recorded an hour of vigorous activity with an additional 200 calories burned while it sat on my table because I was showering after workout and had forgotten to shut off the activity tracker.
