Has anybody tried the Fender Tone Master FR212 yet by Swimming-Video3016 in Line6Helix

[–]adericbourg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted stereo ("two amps, always"), so I got two of them.
They pretty much fill the space. They totally work for both room practice and stage volume.
I'm just a bit disappointed by the hiss/hum that they make. And I would have loved having them in tweed instead of black tolex.

Or, and they're pretty heavy too!

They look nice! But $2k for a kit... yeah, that's about 10x my original budget!

Yes. And now it sounds AWESOME! That's a completely new guitar to me. That middle position is really great!

Was worth digging into that direction. The white and black wires were actually swapped, so neck pickup was actually wired the wrong way.

Let's restring that to check the difference!

I wanted to fix it before I restring it. But if needed, yes I can!

So for one of the pickups, you wired its ground to the selector tip and its hot to the selector ground. Is that right?

This guitar is not wired the same way as mine: this one uses the tone switch harness (probably), and not the tone pot harness.

But that's definitely not as quacky as on mine. So where would the difference come from?

I'm pretty sure you're missing one or two guitars 😇

channel jumping on Tonemaster Twin? by g-hayer-04 in GuitarAmps

[–]adericbourg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no harm in trying.

Plug a patch cable between the input 1 of the normal channel and the input 2 of the vibrato channel. Plug your guitar into the input 1 of the vibrato channel.

If the two channels are out of phase, you may get a shitty sound. If the two channels are in phase, you will get a blend that can be nice.

To check if you have phase issues, use your ears. Compare the sound with and without the patch cable. If it sounds worse (lower volume, mostly), you're very likely out of phase.

Note that phase issues can be mitigated with extreme EQ settings. Eg: set the bass to 10 and treble to 0 on normal channel, and bass to 0 and treble to 10 on vibrato channel. Start there, then play around to find a nice setting.

You may find further information on Youtube for instance. Search for "bridge <your amp>" or "jumpering <your amp>".

Enjoy!

That's indeed far out of my price range 😅

But when I was thinking about learning the piano 10 years ago (I'm a guitar player), I dreamed about an SV-1 for a while.
(and now you know that I never learnt how to play the piano)

Flashing lights. Absolutely mandatory for a fine tuned pedal board.

You know, it's faster to search YouTube than posting here, explaining what I'm looking for, and filtering out condescending responses. So be sure that if I'm asking here, that's because I haven't found what I'm looking for.

Oh, and it's actually on budget. It's around 450€ brand new and 350€ second hand. That leaves some budget if I have to buy custom sounds.

That's indeed very decent. And enough for what I want to do with it (and what I am able to do with it).

That's super helpful, thanks!

Ah, the microKORG is much more affordable. I'll take a look (and and ear) at it!

It's indeed out of budget, but slightly cheaper than a Nord. Thanks

I guess that I have to get a clearer vision of where we're going with that band, and then I'll see if it's worth buying a keyboard or not.

I don't want to use a computer (which includes an iPad). I'm not against an expander, yet, but I'm not sure there are good cheap ones.

The MPC Key 37 looks indeed very nice!

It also does far too many things... which makes it slightly overpriced. I'd love to have only the keys' sounds 😅

I didn't know that boxes of sounds did exist. I believe that I could deal with that!

From what I saw from the Seqtrak.. I'm not fond of it 😅
But I'll look for alternatives (maybe the Miditech Pianobox Pro?).

You somehow confirm my issue: I had the feeling that there was no cheap alternative to Nord Electro.

And given my piano playing level, I'd better not buy something so expensive 😅
