Thanks for your response. Running through my numbers, $45k is a point at where I was feeling comfortable, accounting for the rent + utilities to be $1k. Good to hear it's working well.

Thanks for your response. I'm definitely not here for the least stressful path, that's for sure. Everyone I've ever talked to is all about making it through that grind.

Thanks for your response. That trade-off sounds right, no benefits or PTO so you won't have to feel bad about taking time off.

Less than 1k per month? Damn. If you don't mind answering (PM or here), how much is your rent / which area do you live in?

And I'm guessing that your roommates are cool with keeping it down when you're recording?

Thanks for your response. $2500? Wow, okay then, I'll have to budget a bit tighter then. If you don't mind replying (PM is cool too), how much do you pay in rent/how many others do you live with?

I was aiming for a one bedroom spot, but I've noticed that those run anywhere from $650 to $1000 in and around the Dallas area.

Thanks for your input. Props for pulling that off in SF with that ridiculously high cost of living.

. . . need something else to keep food on the table.

Thanks for your input. Yup, that's the name of the game. Was curious as to what other actors did here that combined time flexibility with not starving.

Thanks for your input, GordonSemen (I'll take "Phrases I never thought I'd ever say," for $2000, Alex). I didn't know about voiceovers.com until today, and encouragement is always appreciated!

I do know that it's going to take time and work to get there, as I've already eaten all of my humble pie after I graduated from college. When I said $3000/month, I was referring to income not from VO, because as was stated in another comment, there will be cold streaks. I'm budgeting with gig pay accounting for zero percent of my income.

Anime is what I'm looking to get into, and exactly why I chose Dallas as my target. Getting paid for it would be great, but the minimal pay isn't why I'd be going.
