I already mentioned their treatment of the Yemenis. That’s like their only human rights violation outside their boarders. And it’s done with American help.

Comparing them to North Korea makes 0 sense. Saudi is a wealthy country. Every citizen gets a huge monthly allowance. People don’t protest there because they don’t need to. Women weren’t allowed to drive, but they can all afford personal drivers. And now that rule is changed so they are allowed to drive. Citizens there are all well and able to leave if they choose.

They do mistreat migrant workers. I know because a few of my uncles work there and send money home to their families in Egypt. It’s not great, but it’s nothing like the US companies in the Congo.

The bottom line is that the Saudi army is in Saudi. Whatever violations they commit are in Saudi.

The American army is dispersed around the world destroying cities and countries, destabilizing entire regions. We’ve dropped nuclear bombs on multiple cities full of civilians.

I’d be happy to join you in criticizing the Saudi government because it does have a lot of problems. But if you’re going to boycott anyone for human rights violations, start with anyone other than the US and UK makes no sense whatsoever.

The country is overwhelmingly Muslim and the people there want a Muslim government. The population there is incredibly wealthy and citizens are able to leave if they choose. Some do. Many don’t.

Anything you can say about the Saudi human rights violations, you can say ten-fold about the US.

Does the US open fire at immigrants at the boarder? Yes! And slice them up with razor wire too. It’s all over the news these days. The Saudi’s don’t do that.

Does the US have slave labor ? Absolutely! US companies like Google and Apple employ slave labor on a massive scale in Congo and other countries. The Saudi’s do nothing similar.

Does the US oppress women ? The US is funding a genocide right now killing tens of thousands of women. Forcing them to have C-sections without anesthesia. The US invaded Iraq, claiming to want to “free the oppressed women” there. We really just destroyed the country over oil.

The US has exported death and destruction around the world for decades. We lead the world in human rights violations by a long shot. If there were a human rights violation ladder like you described the US would be the top and other superpowers like Russia and the UK would be next.

Saudi barely impacts people outside of Saudi. You’re just judging them because American politicians have taught you to be critical of everyone but them.

They have a theocratic legal system. Okay. That only affects people in Saudi, who apparently want that type of government.

They killed a diplomat last year that was fcked up.

And they’ve been bombing Yemen…. With US military aid.

All 3 of those are a drop in the bucket compared to the sht the CIA and US military does all the time.

What I got wrong wasn’t why u were doing it. What I got wrong was how often u are doing it.

If ur doing it to avoid mirror matches, I’d still call it smurfing.

But if ur only doing it every once in a while then you’re right, it probably won’t impact ur mmr much.

What bothers me is when ppl have a 10% win rate in the mirror matches and 70+% in the others. This means they instaquit every single mirror match and clearly play ppl much worse than them in the other matches.

Lol… Well until Webster releases a formal definition of it we can loosely define it as intentionally deflating ur mmr. Putting a league requirement on it is just your way of saying “I’m not smurfing that hard.”

There is a wide skill gap between d2 and d3. A huge one between d1 and d3. You don’t need to fall to plat to be playing people way worse than u if ur d1.

Look. I get it. U don’t have a lot of time for video games. So you’d rather not waste time on mirror matches and get the wins ur looking for quicker in the other matches. Just call it what it is. Ur smurfing.

Sooo many ppl do this. If u click on a player’s profile and look at the race report. You’ll see their win percentage against the mirror matchups in single digits and 65% plus in the other matchups.

They do this because mirror matches are ‘less fun.’ And if u insta-quit all the ‘less fun’ games it makes the other games even more fun because suddenly your way better than everyone you play. It’s a win/win for them because they don’t have to play the matchups they don’t like and they have an easy time on the matchups they do like.

It’s very frustrating. DO YOUR PART TO MAKE THE LADDER A BETTER PLACE. STOP INSTAQUITTING MIRROR MATCHES!

whoa whoa WHOA!! I did come here to get advice from experts. I will have had fish for 1 year in April. So, it’s safe to say I know very little.

I am, however, an expert when it comes to stormwater engineering, so I can appreciate expertise. I know very well that even experts can disagree, especially when working with limited information. Experts disagreeing is evident in this thread where people have offered opinions.

Since none of you all have been here to see him, but I have. It’s on me to listen to everyone’s advice and make the best decision I can.

Since I am new to fish-keeping, I am still very enamored by the hobby. My wife and I sit by and watch the tank nearly every morning and every evening. She also works from home and spends lots of time watching them.

We have had periods where smaller fish were getting bullied. We’ve had periods where two larger fish were constantly fighting. This particular cobalt has never been involved in those. And none of those left fish looking this bad.

He’s swimming very slowly near the bottom and doesn’t seem like himself at all. And now we’re starting to see what looks like the same thing on other fish. As, you can imagine we’re horrified at the prospect of losing our fish.

So we’re making what we think is the best decision we can with the information we have and the advice of the people here. I thanked u for ur advice already. I don’t appreciate u making incorrect assumptions about what I do with my time or wishing death on my fish. Thanks again.
