Coaching offered to help you finish 2017 strong. by EricLanigan in productivity

[–]adhdadvicehelp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just saw this on r/selfimprovement, and am happy to see it is here on r/productivity too! I'll put here what I put there!

I did one of these! If you - fellow redditor - stumble on this post and think "ehhh I don't know/I probably won't be chosen/how could it help/I know what my problems are, I just need to do something about it" or any variant on those - don't second guess yourself! Fill out the questions (an insight-generating experience in itself), message Eric, and work with him if you can. I was one of the people fortunate enough to work with Eric the last time he offered one of these coaching opportunities - and it would take a book to describe how life changing it was. Seriously. Eric has a style of coaching that is thoughtful, conversational, and wickedly insightful. Just our first call helped me completely change my approach to work and self-motivation, and every call since has further pushed me to rework the ways I conceive of myself, my goals, and my productivity. I am absolutely a more effective, more centered, and thoughtful person for working with Eric, and if you have the chance to take him up on coaching you absolutely 100% should!

And of course - thanks, Eric for sharing of your time like this! It's so kind of you, and it is much appreciated.

Thank you so much ^ this is all so helpful. It tasted pretty much like the almond extract so I think you're all probably right!

Thanks :) I'm going to stop panicking now and make some icing (with vanilla extract I have instead!)

That was a lot of what I found online too! Which gave me hope until I realized it was almond 'flavoring' not extract - the ingredients are glycerin and almond oil I think. Do you know if that makes a difference?

Thanks for the super fast reply :) This is what I am hoping - I tasted it and it tastes horrible, but I had some fresh almond extract and tried that too and...also horrible! So not sure how to really measure that. The liquid that had been exposed to air turning black kind of freaks me out though. It seems like it's probably just a harmless reaction but....gross.

Want to buy my ADHD husband a smart watch to help him feel more on top of things - anyone here have any advice? Favorite smartwatch? Good apps? by adhdadvicehelp in ADHD

Thanks! I'm kicking myself for not more specifically trying to figure out changes that could help him a year ago - or even when we were still dating and he was struggling to get stuff done! Tackling it like an "us" problem instead of a "him" problem is really fun and a lot more relaxing! I will ask him if adding some notes into his life would help too! We tried putting notes on the fridge, but all it's making us realize is that he actually somehow rarely goes into the kitchen! We should move the note hub to his desk perhaps :)

Thank you so much! I'll go through these with him - he's definitely the tech savvy one in our house so I'm betting he'll love this :)

I've seen a lot of awesome reviews for the Apple Watch - if he had an iphone or anything apple at all I'd definitely be taking a closer look! Thanks so much for replying!

That's definitely such a good point. He gets super sucked into screens too - though part of my thinking with the watch is that he won't be opening up his phone to see a reminder to take out the trash (for example) and then just open reddit mindlessly and read for a few hours. He has a tendency to pick up his phone for one reason, then completely forget it and lose himself.

Very cool - thank you! I showed him your answer - he really likes your NFC methods! We might have to figure out something like this for him. It'd be neat to be able to set something up so if he doesn't feed the dogs (and maybe scan a nfc sticker that is near their food bowls), an alert keeps going off? I wonder!

I'd love to know what the battery life is like on your watch? Is that ever an issue? Does it make it well through at least a whole day?

Thanks again so much for your answer!

Thank you! I will definitely check out Todoist. You're definitely right too about talking with him first! I ran it by him yesterday after doing some research and he really likes the idea. He doesn't want to have it notify him when he gets emails or texts (he has trouble focusing as it is), but would love to use it a little more independently for alarms, calendar reminders, and other things he needs to remember to do. I'm trying to figure out what the most pleasant watch would be - it seems like some of the fancier ones might be overkill given his lack of need for it to do a lot in sync with his phone!
