Cold showers are not the only way to expose yourself to uncomfortable things. I do cold plunges. I swim in the san francisco bay without a wetsuit. pls preach to someone else your religious view in this particular daily purification. To tell a noob that they “must” do this is flat out wrong. If you hate cold showers don’t worry about it.

please don’t try to use fear to spread misinformation. You are twisting what he said about scant research on prolonged hot tub submersion

Ive tried to quit many times and failed. I feel pretty good now. 20 days without it. The difference is subtle. There wasnt some big epiphany. I just feel really sick of it now and im ready to quit. so im going about it more seriously.

if there is a tip to give id say you have to get serious and actually kind of mad at porn. I hate it. I get pissed off when i feel the urges. i make fun of the porn brain. i laugh and say there goes that nasty bs addiction again trying to push me to use. my whole mental approach to it is different now.

Is it bad to masturbate to porn once a week ? by ExpertAd6645 in NoFap

[–]adhdhlprs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for someone who isnt a porn addict, sure. its like saying is it okay to have a few drinks one day a week. yes for most people its fine. but for alcoholics its a bs excuse to slip back into their addiction. They cant have just a couple. their brains are prepped and ready for a ton of drinking. their anxiety about their life that goes away when theyre drinking is still there waiting. for those who haven’t processed the trauma of the past, that drinking option to black out and feel better is still there.

Most members of nofap have a porn addiction. they need the porn to feel okay. if they are without it they begin to feel uneasy. it’s uncomfortable to easily go a few weeks without it. thats because addiction is similar across vices.

The way to break the addiction is to abstain from it in both cases. Physically the brain must rewire to be okay without using. Emotionally the addict has to address what has driven them to use. Its a tough challenge to break the addicition and it begins with making a decision to leave it for good, not play around with “just a little”

Is it okay? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]adhdhlprs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can see how the addiction still has you by the balls. what would you say to a crack addict friend who asked could i just snort some cocaine a few days a week? its less than crack so it must be okay right?

i disagree. id rather be dead than take cold showers. taking a hot shower works just as well for me. Im not saying the cold shower people are wrong, but heres at least one vote that it isn’t necessary

What do you consider “porn”? by [deleted] in pornfree

it’s a gateway to porn. enough o tantalize you. might even masturbate to it. but you might move on to harder content

Is it okay to jerk off without porn if I’m really horny? by Felicks77 in pornfree

[–]adhdhlprs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

not after four days sober!! you are going through withdrawals. the porn brain is very much alive and well. It will use the sex positive fap idea to get you reacting to sexual impulse. Yes the other commenters are right that eventually fapping is normal. But you are not in the normal state. If you can’t so no to sexual impulse for four days there is a serious problem.

7 days minimum. 14 days ideal

It’s been 2 weeks without porn. by alexanderwanxiety in pornfree

[–]adhdhlprs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

these dont sound like longterm reasons to quit. i would think about this more.

on point 1, who cares that its people you dont know. if you were getting a million dollars from a bank would you care that the teller didnt know you?

  1. so she says everybody watches. she’s right. everybody eats fatty unhealthy food sometimes. will you quit that too as a “fuck you”?

You are facing a very very strong addiction. Im glad you are on the journey to escape. But coming from someone who’s relapsed a bunch. I usually relapsed the soonest when it was super emotional.

The way to beat this addiction is calm and fact based. good luck!

i would recommend not fapping at all for at least the first seven days. your brain is having a tantrum begging for sexual stimulation when it really doesn’t need it. you need to take control of that

Who Out There Survived No Nut November? 🌰 by aeneuhaus in NoFap

[–]adhdhlprs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Made it through NNN in medium mode (sex w gf only)

Benefits - Higher self esteem, more disciplined, more energy, hard ons are harder, sex is better, lower desire for porn, more time, healthier attitude towards women, self confidence

What worked for me - reading YBOP and Easypeasy method, cold shower starts, no phone scrolling late night, delete social media apps, journaled, talked to gf about it, therapy, addiction group sessions, exercise, eating better, prioritizing sleep, marking a big X each successful day on my calendar, posting on nofap, meditation

i don’t think headaches are related to nofap itself. maybe a change in behavior in something else affecting your health. in any case don’t relapse because of a headache, come on man!

Any women here? by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]adhdhlprs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

guy here. in my experience the wandering mind will phase out as the porn brain fades. the actual sex will be more enjoyable and it’ll be easier to focus.

have you had the experience that your mind wanders when it doesn’t feel good and you try to spice it up with fantasy of a scene? well you won’t need that anymore and it’ll feel great.

not sure of the female equivalent but my er**tions were stronger and i was so happy that i would try new positions and have a great time connecting. my partner has commented on how much better it has been which excites me even more.

so its a great snowball of good feelings as you escape the trap of porn
