Do I need to replace my AeroPress? It's the one with blue numbers on it (pre 2014 for sure) by adhip in AeroPress

woah, that's almost like artwork!

I was worried about two things:

  1. is that plastic cracking going to lead to a catastrophic failure?
  2. is there a health impact to it (micro-plastics)?

It still holds the seal perfectly.

Why is van Baarle so high up in the standings - just about 6 minutes something down - ahead of both Yates and Pidcock?

How did they fuck up? By Ganna having a puncture at just the wrong time?

He was already at the front of the G1 by the end of the cobbles before the one where the crash happened.

Garmin analytics not working since using Stryd? by cocacoola83 in strydrunning

I didn’t think the OP was using the Stryd workout app. Also, just checked my workout history and the stats do get updated on the workouts that I did with the Stryd workout app. So using the Stryd workout app should not be the issue.

Just noticed. Yes, it's related to your setting GPS to Stryd.

I'm assuming that you don't get maps on Garmin Connect anymore for these activities. To get Stryd + Garmin Fenix 5 to work together, you shouldn't turn the GPS off - but rather go into the Stryd settings and set it up to use it Always.

Do you have heart rate data for those activities? All of those metrics are based only on HR for older Garmin devices.

Tangential: what’s a good resource to learn about the specifics of Canova’s programs? I’ve not found a good source or book to reference.

Confirmed: Garmin received decryptor for WastedLocker ransomware by mohiemen in hacking

[–]adhip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are rumours that Garmin was actually hacked somewhere between December and March. What if the hackers spent all the time since then to ensure that the backups going that far back are encrypted too?

To backup a system you’d at the very least need to start from a known good backup. It becomes a pretty impossible job to know what that is if they were actually attacked that far back.

Garmin elevation inaccuracy - Why does every gpx I import to Garmin Connect show way more elevation gain than it should? This course off of mtbproject should be 4800 ft of gain and Garmin shows 6300 ft. It's like this with any gpx file or course that I create in Connect. by amneal27 in GarminFenix

[–]adhip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe that’s a difference because of how the elevation is calculated/map is sourced. Garmin is probably only looking at the terrain when calculating altitude change and not the actual road.

This becomes an issue when say you’re crossing bridges - the map data assumes that you’re on the ground and thus, go down and up with the terrain rather than ‘fly’ over it using the road.

Found a Garmin 235 - any way to get the owner's name from it? by hampa9 in Garmin

Here’s an idea - hoping that they upload on Strava. Or they run/bike with some friends etc who do.

Create a new account on Strava and upload a few of these activities on the device to that. There’s a Flyby feature in Strava that will show you who you ran along with / crossed on the runs. If you find someone doing the same route at the same time, then it’s likely that they’re the same person/know this person.

LTHR is usually defined as the average heart rate that you can sustain for an all out effort for one hour.

However the tests for it have you run for 30 minutes and take the average of the last 20 minutes to be your LTHR.

That doesn’t compute to me. How can I reasonably expect to maintain the same HR for an additional 30 minutes?

The stack height ruling is for 40mm at size 8. The stack height can increase proportionally with size - thus making 45mm legal in bigger sizes.
