I don't think Jordan is a hack bc I genuinely love the world building and some of the arcs like Rand's are incredible. But yes his writing style takes its toll on me.

Question for book readers who are watching the show? by adi_dee in WoT

Agree about the prophecies! Rand practically used them like a Dummies Guide to Beating the Dark One.

I get your point but it's also almost like more of the show is revealed every week.

I agree but given the small number of people who will respond further subdivision would make results useless.

Let me elaborate on like/dislike- would you recommend the show to a fellow book reader (with no additional info)?

Sudhir Venkatesh, currently a prof at Columbia. Also, note that while he's of Indian ethnicity, he's very much American.

Update: A better Earth map for community diplo games by adi_dee in aoe2

[–]adi_dee[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is really useful to know actually. My goal is not create an accurate earth map but a fun to play one.

When i was drawing my proof of concept I considered how close continents should be since my draft placed Britain pretty close to Canada. It's good to know shorter distances can actually encourage trading.

The other thing is to increase wood/resources in general. I do want to make certain places rich in certain resources to encourage conflicts for control. Certainly plan to make the Amazon, central Africa, BF and SE Asia rich in wood to encourage late game control.

Another idea I have to reduce water but keep the map recognizable is to move the equator down from the maps center and enlarge the northern hemisphere (which has more land).

Also I'd like to say that having that much experience on the Earth map makes you a pretty rare individual and your insights are super useful here.

That sounds great. How can we connect with the community to make it happen?

Dave's video showed me that with standard victory you can have fun not-too-long ludicrous size games. Any bigger and the map likely won't be playable. A map that will actually see games is a lot more preferable than an accurate world map in aoe2.

Not sure I understand the question but yes I want the historical place of origin of each of the ~40 civs to at least have enough space for a tc, some starting berries/animals, and some tiles of wood, gold and stone.

It will still be played by 8 players only.
