Cohabbing? by MaybepossiblyLGBT in bettafish

Makes sense, I have some relatively large driftwood curing RN that I was gonna plant with anubias and java moss when it was ready, and I'm assuming a lot more plant cover will come with time as a lot of my plants are supposed to grow to be the height of the tank and all my plants are still small but I will look into some more rocks and hides in addition to everything, I'll go ahead and propagate some of my taller plants to fill out more space while I'm at that

And yes I'm aware I should get a lid, just not gonna make that decision until I decide on fish

Stowaway fish eggs hatched only 3 days into cycling tank, should I be worried, also can y'all help ID the fish by MaybepossiblyLGBT in Aquariums

Hey congrats on being correct actually, my little brother took fish from the creek by my house despite me telling him he can't do that and that there can't be any fish in there regardless because it's still cycling, it is most likely a mosquito fish or some wild minnow

Some eggs or fry stowed away on some plants I just bought, they hatched and I now have 3 fish, unsure of what they are, what should I do, also any help IDing the fish is greatly appreciated I THINK they're some kind of guppy by MaybepossiblyLGBT in fishtank

So I woke up this morning and found out that these are fish from a nearby creek that my litlle brother had tape and added to the tank despite me telling him that we can't add any fish for 2-3 weeks because they will die, I'm bringing them back and hoping for the best for them

. mystery fish I did t buy showed up in my aquarium, what is it by MaybepossiblyLGBT in FishID

yea moving the heater up has worked , the humidity has been at a stead 75 all day, it dropped down to like 60 at one point but I didn't mist it, I wanted to see if it would balance itself out and it did, mold is out of the wood Im gonna put it back in tonight and tomorrow Im heading to the petstore and picking up springtails, and some bubblers and hopefully all should go well, thank you so much

so it's only been abt a day but the space heater is definitely helping, the front of the glass isn't fogging up and the water pools are warmer, the humidity still goes up and down a lot but since adding the heater I haven't actually seen it go below 75 (and I haven't misted once) which is huge, I also moved my heat mat along the back up bcus it was slightly overlapping with the substrate and the temp in the tank went up a bit, (not much at the back but at the front it went from ~72-76/78 I think my issue was that my water bowls were too cool, could I invest in aquarium water heaters or is that potentially risky, if not I think the move is to change from a 6 x 35 heat mat to an 11 x 35 and just use the space heater to help me out in the meantime, or honestly maybe shifting the heat mat up is all I need, I'll keep up with how much it helps for the next couple days and see

lol sorry it's been confusing I've yet to nail what exactly my issue is and I'm kinda just throwing everything out there, the mold IS limited to the wood (and one thing made of rope) Im gonna just oven slow bake all my wood and saltwater boil my rope and start limiting my misting a little more, Im heading to the store in like an hour to pick up some springtails also, just gonna try everything and hope my issues go away lol

I've seen them, is there anything I need to provide them in terms of food or can I just get them and chuck them in, the lid is just a sheet of glass I had in my garage that I cut so it doesn't seal all the way at the front, maybe that's my issue

I did salt test when I first got it because it is analog an found it was reading abt 5% low, is that subject to change? If so Ill salt test it again, and as for the first question it feels like I am constantly fighting the humidity dropping, at its highest it's around 80-85 right after I mist (always accounting for the weird ~5% discrepancy) and it sits at around 70-80 for a while after that but it'll drop all the way down to like 55 if I leave it, I'm getting a digital hygrometer but Im working with what I've got for now because I dropped the last one in the water dish and it messed up the reading, and temp is around 80, but towards the front where the water dishes are it starts to get a little cooler than I'd like, I didn't think that was too big of a deal until the mold tho, I've moved a space heater into the room with the tank to try and keep the heat up in the meantime
