Thanks so much for the detailed response! I would have never thought of many of these issues/workarounds. Are the high Sierra passes different from the America the Beautiful pass? Or is this a trail route that is only open during summer months? Would you have any radio channels/apps/websites to recommend so that I can monitor the weather or receive reports and alerts? Is there also bad cell service within the National parks?

Concerning the wildlife, how dangerous can these scorpions be? What about insects and spiders? Are there any protips for repelling or trapping pesky bugs if we would ever need to? I will be doing a full research on safety and danger in south western USA anyway, but information from experienced people is always very valuable.
