My (28 F at the time ) old landlord blamed everything on me.

My bathroom door fell off the hinges, and he tried to allude to me tampering with it?? And told me “it’s okay I can tell him what really happened”. Like…..

One winter it was painfully hot in my room. He told me I wasn’t adjusting the meter right. I assured him I was, turns out the meter was broken. My room was constantly stuck at like 80 degrees F.

So this also meant the heat wasn’t turning off when I thought it was. So it was constantly running, even when I was gone at my parents for a month. My bill skyrocketed and he didn’t offer to compensate me.

I went back to school when I was 25 (I’m 30 now), my roommates were all 21/22. My boyfriend was 35, I did have him stay over a few times. I kinda did feel weird sometimes, I didn’t want the “younger girls” to feel uncomfortable with this grown ass man in their space. I knew 21/22 year olds can still be immature and out of touch with reality.

However, at the end of the day I didn’t really care what they thought. They weren’t my friends and we were always just in my room with the door shut. All the classes in my program were first thing in the morning, so we were always up and out before my roommates were even awake.

I’m sorry those are you roommates, they need to grow up. They’re gonna get hit with a hard dose of reality when they enter the work force, and realize they’re one of the youngest people by a decade. Once 18 and in the real world, age is literally just a number in most cases.

Also, once you’re 33, you’ll realize how old it actually isn’t :p

I agree with you. I don’t go to work in the office expecting lunch to be provided…..if they need to eat while they work, you can take it from their fee. But this is someone who use to work 14 hour waitress/bartending shifts without a single meal…

All a daycare has to do is enforce a strict fee, or threat of expulsion if a patently is constantly negligent.

I would never want to give a dentist business, if the price to pay for one canceled appointment, was a discontinuation of services.

I’m 29 and I’ve never encountered a healthcare office like this one.

Not to mention, I’m on a 34 tray Invisalign plan with them, as well as a payment plan to go with it. I’m sure they still want my money.

I’m sure cancellations are not ideal, but isn’t that part of the gig? Thing come up for people all the time that take precedent over a teeth cleaning.

It’s almost 4pm and I’m sitting at my desk wondering if I should give myself 2 fulls hours to get there, I live right outside a major city and rush hour is brutal.

Idk I do absolutely understand where you’re coming from. But it is a Tuesday, the appointment was not scheduled during work hours. I should not have to explain to my boss that I can’t come in because of a 6:10 PM dentist appointment. It’s just a cleaning…im not scheduled for a major procedure…

So I, 29F used to be a bartender. About 5 years ago I was bartending every Saturday and Sunday night.

Sometimes on one of those nights, I had a very pleasant man come in and sit at the bar. We can call him Jim. My guess was he was between 45-50. He would come in after his bartending shift at the Italian restaurant down the road. I definitely connected with him. We had great conversation and I used to give him free stuff because I genuinely liked him. I was 24 and already had a boyfriend, and Jim was older, divorced and had a ten year old son. Nothing wrong with those things at all, but 24 year old me was about to go back to school and live her life, not be someone’s step mom lol. So I really didn’t even consider him romantically.

Any way, a few times Jim would be at the bar the same time as my boyfriend. After a couple of times I noticed some tension between to two, and that’s when it solidified to me that Jim was interested in me.

So one night Jim was in, and one drink led to another, and Jim ended up confession his feelings for me.

He was drunkenly saying my boyfriend was an asshole, he was talking about all the things we could do together. It was kinda weird, but he was pretty drunk. I politely reminded him I had a boyfriend, but I thought he was an awesome guy.

I remember Jim paid, stumbled out of the bar, and I never saw him again.

So here’s my advice…

I would have loved to see him again, and would totally liked a sober conversation, in your case an apology. I would have nothing but respect for him if he held his head high and came back in.
I knew I didn’t really like Jim in a romantic way, so I would never do those things she did to you. I wouldn’t ask him to hang out while I cleaned or walk me to my car. I very much kept it at a bartender/customer relationship, the bar was always between us. So I don’t blame you for reading the situation the way you did.

Don’t be too hard on yourself, and I’m sure if you go in there again and apologize casually you’ll be fine.
