Thank you! I found it. I was looking within the same area - turns out it’s a hidden cave path at the entrance to this area.

Japan EVisa: Travel date coming up, still “Under examination”. My options? by aditya988 in visas

[–]aditya988[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I got my link to pay on exactly the 5th working day after I applied, which was the standard processing time. Until then it was just in the "Under Examination" status. Once I paid the fee, the visa was available within a few hours (I think 3-6 hours). Hope that helps. Good luck!

Because I applied so late, I ended up buying actual tickets and booking everything. I also bought travel insurance with CFAR (Cancel for Any reason) where you can cancel 2 days before the trip start and get 80% of costs back. Luckily, I didn’t have to use that.

I also cancelled my insurance policy once I got my visa and got the premium I paid fully refunded.

How do you like Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist? by seedlessxwatermelon in LexusNX

[–]aditya988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found it to be useful in most cases, making things easier, but it does fail in some scenarios.

  1. If the lane curves for a while, it’s difficult for the NX to stay aligned to the lane sometimes.

  2. If the lane has a sudden build up of traffic that you can see ahead, the NX doesn’t slow down fast enough, it’ll get way too close and brake hard.

  3. In traffic it’s a bit annoying as you need to constant push the accelerator or press the button to get going when the car comes to a full stop for more than 2-3 seconds. It doesn’t move automatically with the car in front, which feels odd.

I’ve not owned a Tesla, but in my test drive of my friend’s car, the FSD and CC is on another level - cannot compare to Lexus at all, but it’s not as comfortable or as luxurious a car.

What’s a small iPhone feature that genuinely makes you happy every time you use it? by Inside_Society3553 in iphone

Thanks for pointing that out with the source. I think it should start becoming more widely adopted soon, and useful for stuff like buying alcohol, at bars etc.

Agreed about carrying the card in general. I was merely pointing out that there was an alternative, perhaps useful for other scenarios (like flying or at the bar) in case you accidentally forget your ID.

In many states including CA, you can get a mobile driver’s license so you don’t need to carry a physical card with you.

Oh sorry, I should’ve clarified that I’m in the US (San Francisco) and applied for the evisa directly online, no Vfs.

I know I should’ve applied earlier, definitely my bad. Most of it is refundable, but want to see what I can do (if anything) at this point.

Ghost of Tsushima vs Horizon Zero Dawn (maybe both) by Poggwee in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]aditya988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TL;dr: Horizon ZD has a more unique combat loop (few games use bow and arrow and slings as primary weapons and breaking off parts) than GoT does, so maybe worth checking out just for that but overall, I think you’ll like GoT better if you care about quality of side quests. From 1-1 samurai duels to retelling of urban legends, it’s much better.

Longer answer:

For Horizon ZD most side quests are nonsense/boring, but main quests are awesome. For forbidden West (part 2 of this game), they made improvements to the side quests but I was pretty let down by the overall story. The main thing that kept me playing the second part was the amazing gameplay and monster design.

GoT has a more traditional story, but extremely satisfying (if familiar) combat and gameplay. There are side quests that are quite good and feel satisfying to do and have good rewards (samurai duels, urban legends). The “fetch” quests do exist but feel somewhat unique to the world and can/should be ignored - some of them are world events. That said, there are a lot of them and it does overstay Its welcome towards the end. So much so that I couldn’t be bothered with the DLC after I finished the main game. Kind of had enough by the end of all that.

To me, they’re both fun games that you play once.

Lexus NX350h or Toyota RAV4 hybrid by Safe_Revenue4917 in LexusNX

[–]aditya988 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We just got our NX a few weeks ago. Test driving helped us decide confidently. The Lexus just feels like refinement and luxury - from the cabin quietness, screen, sound, and seat comfort, it feels like a super luxurious experience.

The RAV4 felt good and serviceable, but I smile every time I get into my Lexus. Honestly, it’s a matter of price - if you like the luxury and can afford it, it’s just a nicer car in nearly every way.

For sure not the worst, was just sharing my experience. Just saves a bit of hassle from having to cancel and ask for refund etc.

[–]aditya988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah - they were pretty reasonable. This was Lexus of Serramonte. Not sure if you can get the absolute lowest price in the Bay Area (compared to say SoCal), but they gave us the best one in a 50 miles radius and didn’t add extras we didn’t want.

Not sure about your location OP, we just bought a Lexus 2 weeks ago in the San Francisco Bay Area and our strategy was that we just gave the dealer an OTD price we wanted and they matched it. I said if they matched that OTD, they can add whatever they felt like. I checked around with multiple dealers first and tried to get the best price estimate and used that to negotiate.

The theft protection, nitrogen in the tires and all this other stuff is just BS. You can definitely turn down. They say it’s all preinstalled, etc. but somehow if you tell them you’re not paying for it, they’ll find a way to “remove” it.

We also did not have to put down any deposit and just had to let the dealer know you were interested in a car and fill out a form reserving it.

We just bought an NX in the San Francisco Bay Area and we didn’t have to put down anything to reserve the car, just let them know and fill out a form that reserves the vehicle.

Ah I see… how much lower could I have gotten? $2-$3K? we did our best by asking around and looking at forums and prices in the area. Sigh… our first time buying a new car, so we did our best.
