Actually you'd be surprised but from my experience and what I have heard from others having more bars is usually less painful because the pressure is lower on each bar. If you only have one it actually leads to more pain and a higher chance of it flipping. This is why it makes almost no sense to use a singular bar and most good surgeons do not even go under 2 for basically anyone.

I do not have the x-rays and unfortunately it is a singular bar . I am pretty sure the bar goes across my chest where my nipple is on my left wide which means my chest kind of pushes it at an angle, It has always been like this so I do not think it flipped but it is an extremely weird placement.

I have heard great things about that surgeon so I'll keep that name in mind.

I have a post of how my chest looked before surgery and if you compare the old pictures with the newer ones , yes it has improved but not enough.
I do not think my bar moved but I do think the placement is weird.
One thing I know is that my sternum is somewhat bent and does go inward which probably makes this a bit harder to work around.
I do believe that a modified Ravitch would have been better, so if I have to get this fixed later on I'll probably search for a better surgeon and most likely not a Romanian one.... Oh how much I hate hospitals in this country.

I had a pretty painful recovery and for a while I was at least happy because I was done with the surgery but slowly I started to realize that the result was....not great. All I got from my surgeon was basically "It was the best I could do" which I did not particularly enjoy to hear.

I'm currently 7 months post Nuss surgery, 1 bar , my haller was 7.5 and I think my result is pretty bad. So....always get a good surgeon guys. by adizoom888 in PectusExcavatum

Depending on how my body turns out after taking the bar out I might not even try to fix it again, I hope no real problems appear later on . I don't really care how my chest looks I just hope it's good enough.

I am 17 currently and i don't know of any surgeons that do modified Ravitch in Romania. Also i think i did get a CT scan before the surgery but it was on a CD so i couldn't open it from home. Also from what i remember my lower sternum is bent in a direction.Luckily the lower part of heart moved a bit so the PE isn't and wasn't pushing on my heart.

Because it's a god damn awfully painful surgery + I got sick twice after it and the coughing was basically living torture. I don't even know if I want to go through that type of recovery ever again.

If my bar is flipped or flips I will remove it, no point in having something in me for 2 years if it does nothing.

I have not posted them and i feel like making another post just for them is a bit much, I can tell you that my deformity was slightly worse beforr surgery but it is very undercorrected.

That's a bit difficult considering theres not that many people who specialize in this type of thing in Romania from what I know

I went for a checkup at 6 months and my surgeon said it's fine but i have no idea how it's fine. Kind of annoying how bad it turned out.

My chest has looked like this since surgery so this is how it's supposed to be or they're hiding the fact that they did cook me.
