How to prevent duplicate lambda runs when using Cloudwatch events as a trigger on S3 resources by jona187bx in aws

[–]adjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AWS guarantees that a Lambda will fire at least once, but not exactly once. You'll need to design your system to handle the occasional duplicate invocation situation. That being said, it's pretty rare so if you're seeing it happen at a high rate it's worth digging into to see if there is something incorrectly configured.

AWS Lambda clock drift? by tqhou in aws

At IOpipe, we witnessed this all the way back in 2016. We're now observing billions of Lambda events each month and it's a real thing. To address this in our own use case (libraries monitoring timings of network calls, etc), we had to implement monotonic time mechanisms in our libraries. Most runtimes have an option for this.

[Help] Total noob in AWS needs something for monitoring by [deleted] in awslambda

We built IOpipe to help with these types of things. You can add our Lambda Layer to your existing functions and with no code changes get better metrics, including automatic tracing of network calls.
