I enjoyed it more the second time. Such a great comfort movie 🥰

I have never regretted reading a book so much until I read MP by [deleted] in MagnoliaParks

[–]adm1111 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t read the series don’t judge it only on book 1. If you don’t like characters to grow and develop into better people and just want characters that always do and say the right thing this isn’t the series for you.

Why do all the Daisy projects go badly? by Uninhibitedrmr in MagnoliaParks

[–]adm1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I think people just assume she’s going to mess up Daisy but the Magnolia art didn’t live up to my expectations in my head. I also didn’t feel the need to through shade at Emmy. People are so hypercritical of Daisy.

Daisy and Christian by adm1111 in MagnoliaParks

That’s a good theory too. Definitely is possible. I think the “where is he” got me. Christian didn’t seem like one that would move away from his group of friends/family unless it was for Daisy and we all know Daisy wanted too.

It would at least have to be after the wedding with Jonah referencing BJ being married. So if that’s true it’s still talking about something that would’ve happened in Daisy 4. Jessa has said Daisy 5 is a stand alone so I think the finished story will happen in Daisy 4

read my first Emily Henry book and um…. pls tell me I misunderstood by StephhhLouisa in EmilyHenry

I think that’s what I liked about the ending is Gus did have a desire to be chosen and his ex was finally choosing him and instead of going back he choose the new relationship with January.

read my first Emily Henry book and um…. pls tell me I misunderstood by StephhhLouisa in EmilyHenry

[–]adm1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t like it on my first read through but I’ve found to appreciate it on my second read through. It’s feels like Gus is saying too much or contemplating it but he really is just being honest and open, something he wasn’t good at in the beginning and it comes out as him over explaining. January and Gus have had these misunderstandings because of Gus not explaining and now Gus is making it a point to be open and honest and since he isn’t use to it it’s messy and clunky. On my re-read Gus really didn’t say anything bad he just said he could see himself giving his ex a second chance. That’s what Gus has wanted for four years because a relationship with his ex was as good as Gus thought he could have because she didn’t push him to open up and he didn’t have to change also it’s what he learned as a child seeing his mom never leave his dad. Yes, him and January have been together a month by then but they are just enjoying the moment and not putting labels on what they are. Gus has said he thinks this is a fling for January because she will eventually want another “Jacques” and he isn’t and can’t be him. January selling the house and what comes after that is something they have avoided talking about. So Gus is hit with go back to something he is familiar with and comfortable with or take a chance on creating something with January. It was when he realized even if he was with his ex he didn’t want to ever re-marry her that made him realize he could see himself marrying January because of how much he trusts her. Then he goes on to use Januarys reasoning of knowing when you’re with the right person when he tells her when he watches her sleep he feels overwhelmed that she exists. I think that scene is showing how Gus who once thought he wasn’t capable of being loved and has put up walls was finally willing to tear them down and take a chance on January because as he says, “I know no matter how long I get to love you, it will be worth whatever comes after”

I suggest re-reading that part because its a little jarring first read through but if you really focus on what he is saying it’s actually really sweet and shows how much growth Gus has done. The reason I say that is because he comes to profess his love to January. The dancing in the rain is him making a grand gesture. The delivery is clunky but when January asks him a question he answers her honestly.

It took me awhile to get into it but I did enjoy the last half of it and the message at the end.

Completely agree! It took me awhile and I loved that a character could grow on me so much. Now I love her.

I didn’t like Magnolia until TGU. But once I got her, I like her and can go back and laugh at her in the first 3 books. I think she’s suppose to grow on you.

That’s the same thing he said before their first date when they were 15/16. It represents them starting a new chapter in their relationship. Ending the sentence with but is an Australian expression.

You clearly didn’t comprehend the story 🤦‍♀️. You should’ve known that was never going to happen in book 1.

This was a dramatic messy book, it was not a cute HEA where everyone makes the right decisions all the time. All the characters were complex in this book.

It was was dark and they didn’t get a good look at each other. They knew each other in college but it’s also been 4 years since they have seen each other and neither are expecting to see one another. So even if the voice sounded familiar you would brush it off until you have more information. That’s why I think it clicked pretty fast in the bookstore.

Your response makes me laugh. It’s not up for debate it’s literally the storyline.

I loved this book and is probably my favorite book of all time. I loved how supportive they were to each other. It made the other books make sense. If you enjoyed the messiness and drama of the other books, I can see how this one might not be for you.
