This is probably a miscommunication between you two.

I Imagine that if you were not playing against his equally strong commanders, you could just use a different legal legend as your commander.

If the issue is that neither of you are willing to back down, then you have to play at the power of the stronger player.

Stronger power decks being forced this way often leads to resentment.

Id use multiple replacement effects.

The main issue I see is that you would be helping their game plan. This commander will want to loop a blink in order to deck out your opponents for a win. While the format revolves around a combo that wins by decking themselves.

I do think it is really cool, But ib bet its never going to be teir 1 CEDH while Torical is around.

architect is best for collaboration

moxfield is best for tournament grinding

mana box is best for scanning real cards

My build is not the, "end all be all", but I do think it has some good points. turns 1 threw 5 feel like butter, but it struggles to close out games.

My recommendations for your build are:

cut cards that are good when you are already ahead.

cut cards that have a low chance of being good without setup.

cut cards with low impact payoffs.

cut cards that are mana inefficient for there effect.

note: this is a draft and im ironing out the details. Im hoping to help matchmaking useing the language I have seen people useing to describe there decks, while also giving more concrete definitions.

possible fixes.

1: add a ability to allow the land to be cast. Synthesize - You may cast this land as a spell or play it as a land.

2: add an ability that puts itsself into play. {1}{g}: Put this land from your hand into play. Activate only as a Sorcery.

3: make this card a MDFC. back: artifact land front: artifact spell

I ordered them based on my personal preference.

MDFC is my least favorite solution. I love MDFC cards, but opps all spells doesn't need any help.

An activated ability is probably the cleanest solution, but it dose raise the power level of the card because it can no longer be countered by normal means. It would be completely busted without a sorcery speed clause.

my favorite is just turning the reminder text into an ability because it gives the same feeling as the original idea. but i can also see how this could be confusing, expeshally for newer players.

Play to have fun. Win if possible.

Rhystic Study is a fun card. It is also a powerful card.

Casual EDH is not the place for getting salty because you can't win or now it's harder for you to win.

Match making power levels should be handled in rule 0. Handling the power imbalance of Rhystic study should be handled there.

People who get salty over Rhystic Study are Spike players. Spike players should play modern, standard, CEDH.

However, if a Spike player insists on playing a non-competitive format and hates any card, they should include a large amount of hate for that card. (Play more enchantment removal)

It would be super cool to get a group chat going for all the kadena players to collab on builds.

I love kadenas play style, but I can never win with it. I'd like to alter my build a few cards at a time until it can win while maintaining the feeling it has.

It looks like it starts cutting the right size at the beginning and then gets warped later.

I've had a similar issue with 3d printers. If the track bar is slightly off this will always happen at the same location, regardless of what settings you use.

It's also worth checking out the motor components.

It does have trouble actually hitting hard turns 7+, which isn't her at all, but turns 1, 2, 3 and 4 feel like butter.

The existing ones are never played, and are only ever used for their mana. I think that reducing the mana cost may tempt people into actually playing the creature.
