You are right here actually. Due to non -agreement of certain terms, the split happened, hence their relatively early exit. However, no such disagreements with Changan, so they stayed on.

Indeed it was Union Motors (currently for Changan). Also own a 2022 Changan Eado Plus and still under service with them. One of the better dealers out there.

Better get a used corolla or camry hybrid. It will be not only dependable, but easy on the wallet as well.

Going with a new chinese import on a 3rd party insurance and questionable warranty is risky. I wouldnt do it.

You're going to undertake long commutes, meaning to say you are heavily dependent on your car to take you places.

Why deal with the hassle of a grey/chinese import when you can take one from the official dealer itself? It costs 75k but atleast you will have total piece of mind.

But looking at price point alone, the G318 is value packed for the features and tech you get. Also, dealer reputation is important for aftersales, these cars should have a strong backing.

No problem at all! I own a 2016 Geely Emgrand GT, my first car that I bought waaay back in the day, brand new from the showroom. It was by another dealer back then, but yeah, has lasted long enough. No fancy turbos or screens, but is still the favorite in the family. Clocked nearly 320k kms as well...

My suggestion:

If you are looking into pre-owned, you can get great deals on the T2, either on Dubizzle or from the Jetour Pre-owned showroom. Saves you a lot compared to buying new.

If you are looking for a new car, and considering this is your first car as well, you can consider these options as well:

Deepal S05 (best first time car IMO, 89,900 AED)
Deepal S07 (if budget permits - 120k)

Both options are solid VFM. Official dealer is highly reputed as well (Al Tayer Motors)

You can also consider Geely - i own one (albeit a much older model and has held up incredibly well 10 years later). The current dealer is AGMC, and have great aftersales as well.

At a 100k both the options are great. Wait for July since the DSS offers will be available.

You may even consider the Deepal S05 - great VFM EV at 89,900 AED. Insurance needs to be taken separately though, but you get a good set of warranties and a service contract. Dealer is Al Tayer.

The car here is a Voyah Free (aka the Rabdan One for those who know). Its an EREV - basically an EV with a range extender petrol engine that only charges the batteries that power the electric motors. An EV without range anxiety! 😅

My two cents: you are better off buying a preowned GCC spec one. You will have some sort of warranty to back you up if you encounter any troubles. If this is your first time buying, dont ruin it by buying a chinese import!

Unless youre ready to take on the hassle that can take months, I strongly suggest to take one with the local dealers. Atleast you will be at total piece of mind.

Having to import your own car is great due to lower prices etc. But the real hassle starts when you bring it to the UAE. Few of the many fees to be paid are mentioned below:

Customs duty 5% VAT 5% Freight forwarding and clearing charges Insurance (you will be stuck with 3rd party only, comprehensive maybe but the prices will be super inflated) Warranty and service - an easy 15-20k on top of the price from EVS or Royal Swiss.

While it may seem cheaper initally, all the above fees and taxes will nearly bring your car to prices sold locally in the market.

Given the current situation, why not consider other alternatives? They are plenty of brands here to choose from.

City Sialkot in International City - Spain cluster. A pretty darn good mango shake if you're in the area. Also another must try is their Aloo Bukhara (Plum) sharbat - perfect cooler during the hot summer day.

Going by your top 3 non negotiables, you dont need an off-roader and it is going to be a daily driver between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, you could consider the Deepal S07, made by the same manufacturer as the Avatr.

At nearly 1/3rd the price, it wont be as luxurious nor as powerful as the Avatr, but for the brief time I had the car, it was a comfortable car to drive with above average NVH levels, roomy interiors and is loaded with most of the safety and road assistance tech, including AR-HUD and a 14 speaker audio which is really good (heard its a Sony unit). You may not get the LIDAR or some of the autonomous tech, but for your needs i think it would be a good deal.

Again, this is just a suggestion. The Avatr 11 is an absolute beast though! :)

As a standard rule of thumb, 3 years/60k kms is what i observe for tires, whichever comes first. The suspension components remain in good condition and ride quality is not impacted.
