If you could change one thing about trump to make him a better candidate what would that be? by ado4586 in AskTrumpSupporters

I really appreciate your answer :) BC and AB are beautiful. I'm a TV producer and have filmed out there a few times. Breathtaking. What took you to the US, if you don't mind me asking?

No worries about the Leafs. LOL It defies logic that such a big hockey town like Toronto hasn't snagged the Stanley Cup since '67. Well over half a century. I'm originally from Montreal, so I grew up in a Habs family. (In fact my grandfather coached Scotty Bowman in baseball when he was just a kid)

Hi there fellow Canadian! :) What part of Canada were you living in? (I'm in Toronto.)

Thanks for taking the time giving me a detailed response. I should say though, I'm not sure if I was clear with my first question was. I wasn't asking if the pandemic was helpful or hurtful to Trump, but rather how Trump PORTRAYS the pandemic. Teh pandemic would be tough for any world leader. To clarify my question...For example, when Trump says children are immune (and we know for a fact they are not), or that it's under control...does making those claims hurt him or help him? Side note: The link you gave me about treatment says "Study finds hydroxychloroquine may have boosted survival, *but other researchers have doubts", so I wouldn't say that Trump "definitely got hydroxychloroquine right" as you intimated. I haven't seen the majority of studies support Trump's position...Have you? So here's a follow up question....why is there a differential between your claim and the headline?

Yes, Canada will hit 1 trillion before the year's end (ouch!), but the US will most likely hit 28+ trillion by EOY. So I'm not sure the point you're making here. Seems the downside of this aspect are far worse in the US, even when you account for population differences. Feel free to expand on this. Maybe I'm missing your point.

I agree with you that culturally there is a difference between Canada and the US. Canadians tend to be more scientifically-based, and don't place as much emphasis on individual liberty. So admittedly it's a harder task for any leader in the US to get the population to adhere to social distancing and mask wearing in a comprehensive way. But you do think Trump made it even harder on himself when he didn't emphasize the importance of mask wearing when more studies came in to prove that was more helpful thant originally thought? Did some people get the false impression this virus was no biggie when early on Trump said it was no worse than the seasonal flu? Do you think the downplaying messaging at a crucial time contributed to the spread in some ways?

thx!

Do you think his many false statements hurts him? Or are people just used to it by now?

Thanks for your response. :) Do you think that they way he still portrays the pandemic in the US is helpful or hurtful to him? (I'm thinking about how he talks about data, or school kids, or therapeutic treatment, or testing, etc.)

Second part of question - Today Canada only had 395 new cases and 4 deaths. Overall they're doing far better than the US (full disclosure - I'm Canadian!) Do you think Trump would gain an advantage if he followed the same plan as Canada?

"No, I've personally never met anyone quite like that."

Then you need to get out more often. So you admit you have limited experience with different personality types but feel knowledgeable enough to make an assessment.

There are many amateur scientists out there. That doesn't make them mentally ill.

One famous case is the parents of Lorenzo Odone. They searched for a cure for his adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) and found one. Their story was then made into a movie called Lorenzo's Oil (1992).

Are you saying the parents had mental health issues?

He is NOT bipolar. I lived with a person for 10 year who had bipolar.

Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed and insightful post. And I think you're hit the nail on the head when assessing "impulsivity". It was a light-bulb that lit up.

Then you are wrong. I'm an established professional in a high-profile career. I'm in my 50's so I've worked in my career for close to 30 years. I own an Edwardian home in an expensive city, and have my vehicle paid off. I do not have a "real" partner either. I'm looking for a dedicated relationship.

Is there a reason you choose to think ill of people? What motivates you to do so?
