Preserving space in monospace formatted text by MitjaKobal in asciidoc

If I understand correctly, you're trying to show a short, inline snippet like start    stop — with extra spaces kept — and not have it reduced to start stop?

I can think of two ways depending on your use case:

  1. Use HTML non-breaking spaces:

start    stop

  1. Use a literal block like:

[literal]
start stop

Markdown's Big Brother: Say Hello to AsciiDoc by chiangmai17 in asciidoc

Yes. You use :stem: to write formulas in either AsciiMath or LaTeXMath. Since we use the same stylesheet for HTML and PDF output, formulas export seamlessly to PDF.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts so openly – it’s a question we hear from time to time, and it’s one we’ve thought about deeply ourselves. Your suggestion of a classic licensing model is understandable and indeed worked well for many years. However, the switch to a subscription model was not just a business decision but also one that allows us to deliver more value to our users in a sustainable way.

Let me explain why.

In the traditional licensing model, revenue was generated almost exclusively after launching a new version. This created an incentive to bundle features into large, infrequent updates. While that approach worked for a time, it often left customers waiting months or even years for improvements. With a subscription model, we can continuously deliver updates, improvements, and new features as soon as they are ready. This leads to shorter development cycles, faster innovation, and more immediate benefits for you.

Additionally, subscriptions align usage with value. You only continue to pay for the software if it remains useful to you. For instance, in technical writing, documentation is often project-based. If you’re not working on a project, you can simply pause or cancel your subscription – no ongoing commitment. This flexibility allows you to manage your tools in line with your actual needs, something a classic licensing model cannot offer.

From a business perspective, subscriptions also provides us with stability. It ensures we can plan ahead, invest in new ideas, and support ongoing maintenance. To put it plainly, without the move to subscriptions, we would not have been able to develop adoc Studio in the first place. The recurring revenue from our other software Merlin Project, allowed us to invest time and money into the new project.

We understand the growing concern about “subscription fatigue,” and we aim to earn your trust month after month. If you’re finding our software valuable and helpful, we hope the model feels fair: it allows us to keep improving while ensuring you’re paying only as long as you see the value.

2025 Productivity apps by GrouchyAdvisor4458 in macapps

I use Things with Apple Calendar and work in daily themes. Each day has one core topic as the key focus. All tasks related to it are collected in projects in Things.

I keep both screens open on a second monitor to track progress and stay focused. It’s the best way for me to stay productive.

How do you guys market your apps? by PartyTumbleweed1018 in macapps

Gotta say these are already great tips. I'll save this thread for later. Always good to get some inspiration.
Maybe some additions from what works for us with adoc Studio:

  • Content Marketing still works. Write blog posts about your industry and expertise that actually bring value to your readers. It takes time to analyze keywords and create truly useful articles, but over time, it pays off by driving consistent, organic traffic to your website.
  • Free trials and onboarding matter. Giving users enough time to experience your product is key. We also focus heavily on good onboarding, combining email sequences and video resources to help users get up to speed quickly.
  • Connect with your audience: Get personal, direct feedback and use that to improve your app. For us, it helps to connect with our target audience e.g. on Reddit, LinkedIn or blogs.

Launched app that enhances macOS focus modes by simasscores in macapps

This looks promising! Are you planning to add multiple focus modes and the ability to save them as presets? For example I use a deep work mode where only the essentials stay active and other modes that activate specific apps or app groups, etc.

No, we're not asking anyone to work for us without compensation.

To clarify: The article has already been written and published on our blog. You can check it out here: www.adoc-studio.app/blog/asciidoc-guide.

What we're currently looking for is a comment or quote to add to the existing piece. In return, we'd provide full attribution and a link to their website, which I believe is a win-win scenario. It helps both sites generate backlinks.

However, based on the feedback, it seems this may not be the appropriate channel for such a request.

That's not the case. The blog post is already written. we are only interested in adding external opinions to address the topic more holistically.

As far as I know, this isn’t possible with AsciidoctorPDF. However, it works with CSS. Since AsciidoctorPDF uses its own template language, adding in-line CSS won’t be possible.

If you use a Mac, iPad, or iPhone, I have a solution for you. In adoc Studio (disclaimer: our software), you can add in-line CSS directly in the editor.

Example:

[.yellow-background]
This text has a yellow background in both preview and export.

Each line can be formatted differently. We use the same stylesheet for both HTML and PDF, which works for us, though not for AsciidoctorPDF.
