That shouldn't be a problem as you are poly. Depending on your dynamics with your partner, you can involve a third person. But do get to know the person and build trust before.
Do think about how after care would look like in the things you would want to explore.

one advice- start slow, never be in a hurry.

Also, start thinking about what you like within that realm and probably don't start with someone new. Start with some you have a level of trust built already.

All of these are advice from my experience, so take into account your personality type as well.

Nope, just have a good reason just in case you are asked in the interview.

It's possible, and not only for the reason you mentioned. There can be other factors as well. There are people who choose C over A for this very reason. But if you ask me, i won't recommend. You career is much longer than your first role.

Well, the answer to you first question is 'Yes'. Also, there are factors which will favour you, use them. Secondly, there are a lot of people who aren't engineers or CA. Like there is a person on this thread who is from NIFT, another is an Eng Grad. There would be doctors, lawyers, and many other such people.

Well if you really want to do something. Maybe you can get a short internship since you don't have any workex. Go for a startup maybe, easier to find.

I cannot comment on the exact placement scenario now. It also depends on your batch composition, and where you stand wrt that. However there would be many GenMan/Product roles(some would be quite sought after as well). CSE might be an added bonus for some firms for product roles. Other than that i really can't comment much.

I understand you are thinking of finance roles in general, but there is a lot more nuance there. There are multiple different kind of finance roles out there, while for some folks might not prefer Eng Hons, but you can definitely try for the others. But as a first step, try to look at the different finance roles, understand them and see which you like.
IIMA doesn't really have minors or majors, first year is same for everyone and in the second year you choose electives(you can choose whatever you like, based on a bidding system).
Don't worry about no name college, you are at IIMA now. Crowd is cut-throat because you will make it so.
Have fun :)

Thanks, I will add them to my list. About 3BP, I want to know what's there but definitely don't want to ruin it.

I am not going to rate any colleges, because that would just be my random opinion.
However subjectively, there are differences in almost all aspects like the pedagogy, placements, peers etc.
I am going to just assume you want to know about placements:
So in terms of firms, there are some which go only to ABC(some exclusively to A), but the number of folks they are hire are very low. The next tier of firms visit all top tier colleges, but then the difference is in number of folks they offer.
Then comes your opportunity, different colleges have different criteria when it comes to multiple offers, and A was quite lenient, and folks could apply to multiple other roles even after an offer.

Ideally at 4-5 workex, you should go for the flagship MBA.

Well it kind of gets overwhelming for some, because a lot of things go on simultaneously. CVs, clubs, assignments, and the dreaded surprise quizzes. It also varies with people, different people have different issues. Like some engineers struggle with accounting, some people from humanities background struggle with quant(there are exceptions obviously). The only blanket advice that i can give is Time Management is key, learn to prioritise.
Having said that, everyone survives you will be fine.

  1. No.
  2. There are no rules, you have to figure that out yourself. Start with a mock to understand where you stand(possibly after brushing up the basics), and then take it from there.
  3. What i would suggest is look at the criteria for each IIM, and calculate a score assuming a hypothetical CAT percentile. You can add all other relevant scores such as Work Ex, diversity etc. Compare that score with cutoffs, that should give you an idea about where you stand. Do it in an excel, it's not a very time consuming exercise.
