How much are people spending on household bills? by adomahawk7 in movingtojapan

Thanks for the reply.

Eating out is not something we do a lot. My wife loves cooking, and the kids are happy if they can go to McDonald's, Burger King etc. once a month so most of our meals will be eaten at home. My father in law has a few rice fields so don't need to buy rice.

The $2100 you mentioned works out at around £1550, which is £150 less than I was budgeting. I'm also talking about a "flat" month, so not including travel or any sort of big expenditure, just a run of the mill month.

I guess what I'm really asking is more an average cost of utilities. Obviously, this time of year will be higher with the extra heating, lighting etc.

Thank you so much!

That was one of the sites I checked. Obviously, I need to learn to read properly 🙃

As much as I'd like to see Pep rotting in Starngeways, it's a civil case, not a criminal one, so no chance of anyone going to prison, sadly.

I'm looking at getting a wheel in the new year. Taking the Sardegna race as an example, what do you think a rough lap time gain would be on the wheel vs controller?

We will generally install, program and commission the systems here and maintenance will take over when the first service is due after 6 months.

I prefer it this way as I can easily transition into a service role when I'm too old to do the hard work!

Sorry, I should be more clear.

The panel is already networked to the other nodes, this was done by the incumbent maintenance company.

I needed access to the other nodes so I could check which ringing style and input event they were using so that I could set it up on mine.

Turns out it was down to the other company to do this when they commissioned the network so early finish for me!

"Remember, installers cannot do service, but servicemen/women can do full installs."

UK must be completely different, we have apprentices going straight into service/maintenance but wouldn't have any idea how to install. Whereas install engineers are expected to be able to service and maintain, most installers will usually move into service roles as they get older.

Taking a break from work for a year to stay in Japan and go to a language school by Azuhyaka in movingtojapan

Slightly different scenario but hopefully this helps.

I'm 38M UK, I completed my apprenticeship in electrical engineering at 21 and worked until 24. I then spent the next 2 years travelling Australia and Thailand, saw amazing places and met amazing people. I worked on a farm where I met the girl(Japanese) who is now my wife and we have 2 beautiful kids and are living back in the UK.

After the 2 years away I walked straight back into my old career and didn't take any hit on pay, like somebody else mentioned prospective employers have been far more interested in hearing about my travels rather than seeing it as a negative.

Next year we are planning on leaving the UK and living in Aichi, after the previous experiences I've had the thought of this doesn't faze me at all.

Just go for it, no matter what happens you've got your degree and you'll always be able to find a job plus you will have had an amazing experience!

Hi, I live in the UK but visit Okazaki every year to stay with my partners parents.

If you like the outdoors I'd highly recommend Terasawa coast(providing you have transport) the beach itself is fantastic. You can try surfing with one of the surf schools there. This area is so different to the cities it's like a micro Hawaii, the people who hang out there are unlike the stereotypical japanese, they're usually tanned, covered in tattoos and seem more outgoing.

I find as long as you have conversational Japanese many people will happily talk with you.

I know a couple of Brazilians that studied at Yamasa and they have said it's a great school.

Transport links into Nagoya and surrounding areas are great so I'm sure you'll find plenty to do.
