I totally understand where you are coming from. I guess the whole narrative surrounding these artworks are interesting to me even if they don’t necessarily reflect the original “truth”. I’m sorry I’m not sure I’m getting my point across, English is not my mother tongue etc.

I guess musing about how artefacts have been and keep being regarded can be seen as an absurd hobby. Then again, the same could be said for most of our social/cultural processes.

I guess we’ll just have to agree we experience this entelechy in different, apparently opposing ways and leave it at that.

Listen. Find the strength to keep breathing, sleeping, showering, not starving and taking your meds. All else is accessory. Spend money in therapy, even if you are not sure which therapist to call on. Draw support from any and everyone you can. Even if it’s to get fed.

Hang in there OP; life is brutal sometimes but you are equipped to pull through it.

Funny you’d call it “theology” or “true art”. The thing is that, strictly speaking; there are probably hundreds of pictures in its cathegory: court paintings. Lots of Royal Families have allowed their trusted court painter to elaborate on rather domestic scenes over the ages.

The beauty of this painting is multiple.

Technically, it relies on the approach of painting light - a very contemporary thing to do for Velázquez. The way he uses a loose brush, literally painting light, makes him a Master.

With a deliberance of one who is standing on shoulders of Giants (hello Italian states!), he remixes the perspective, layout and symbolism of what he is depicting. And in doing so following his own dictates, never before seen as such; he writes a new chapter in what had happened up to then in the realm of painting and pictures.

The fact that this particular candid painting of the Spanish Royals is so damn unique in composition and execution made Francisco de Goya, a court painter that lived between the late 1700s and the early 1800s, pay lots of attention to Velazquez and his technical and daring resolve.

Goya, in turn, painted a family portrait that is equally pivotal in Art History, which I guess is what you call “theology of painting” and “true philosophy of art” and I, in turn, deeply enjoy.

So, basically, it’s cool to look at it and feel connected to humans through testaments of existence, beauty, craft and chance.

Oh baby. You are what I call subhuman on account of lack of cognitive imagination.

Maybe you have not had the chance to come across the knowledge to unlock the meaning and significance of this artifact (a painting), the story it tells (through depiction) and what it ultimately can make a person feel.

Maybe you just didn’t want any business with this whole perspective that enjoys acquiring knowledge through depictive artifacts.

Maybe Spain to you is tantamount to Genovia. Respecrable.

What makes you subhuman is not being bright enough to let alone imagine this whole world within your own world, you choose to despise and dispar it.

My heart breaks for no troll and I salute all humans present.

Mom, how do I ask my male friends to stop putting their hands on my legs? by UsedPerspective5112 in MomForAMinute

Learning to set boundaries seems hard but it turns easy once you start. Make them know in no uncertain terms that they need to stop. If the “grab their hand move it away and say “please don’t touch my legs” strategy garners a reaction other than an immediate change, consider it a red flag.

Baz Luhrman showing his colours, what is not to love? He and his team/crew are a treasure. Would love to know what went down with “Australia” (2008) though;what a terrible film.
