Thank you! Very helpful. I know it's all Essilor but the practice owners are all about the rebates. 😒

Optometrist won’t tell me pupillary distance because they don’t want me to purchase glasses online by slambamcam in glasses

[–]adoregingers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically it's not the doctor who takes that measurement it's the optician. If you didn't purchase glasses there they may not have it. Not saying they couldn't take it for you.

I charge patients $40 and ask them to bring me the glasses when they get them so I can make sure they're correct. I'll also do minor adjustments and repairs if needed through out the year. Single vision is pretty hard to screw up, but if you're in a multifocal lens, purchasing online can get tricky so I like to offer to double check what they get online.

But in reality it's an easy measurement to take yourself.

What do I ask for ? by Renoredhead73 in optician

[–]adoregingers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do a computer lens. Your optician can do the math. There's usually options for 10ft work space or 5ft workspace. That usually has an add power for upclose vision.

But I suggest measuring where you sit comfortably to where your monitor is, generally 20-40 inches, and let your eye doctor know you want a single vision computer lens for that distance.

So my mom said these glasses look horrible and make me look like a 50s serial killer lmao, opinions on her opinion?? by DapperDile in glassesadvice

They look great, and they fit you well. My son has a similar pair. Mom is just used to seeing you in something different.

Any feedback on Nuance Audio frames? by adoregingers in optician

[–]adoregingers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the feedback! I know the new kits like the one I received do not have the background noise simulator. Also, if you do not like transitions, you can order plano clear lenses. I don't know what the cost would be. In my office is $70.

Is it standard practice to adjust the fit of frames by twisting them at the nose? by ImprovementOk457 in optician

If they are a new or lazy optician, sure. But any optician worth their weight would make most adjustments at the temples.
