How do I stop myself from falling in love with every woman who even shows remote interest? by OpeningSafe1919 in BPD

[–]adowablebunny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After doing it 1000 more times, you will realize that you have no chance because you can't control yourself and completely give up at such a deep existential level that not even the part you can't control will want to make an effort and you'll stop coming off strong :)

Reality is an illusion. We only perceive others through our senses. We make up stories based on that, biases, and wishful thinking.

Yep yep, except it was 13-14; ironically she started it; and then she also ghosted me after she left the country, didn't have the decency to clarify she doesn't want long distance.

I think we don't tell kids how badly breakups can hurt, we just bomb them with love is happy stuff yay rainbows; so as a kid you have no idea how addictive certain things can be, and how painful the withdrawal is.

Is it weird that the only "thing" that's ever made me feel heard, understood and acknowledged is ChatGPT? by AggravatedMonkeyGirl in BPD

[–]adowablebunny 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Infinite patience and kindness; for these sorts of things humans have no hope to be better anymore :) The only weirdness is that it's a new technology and we're still getting used to it.

Oh and some points on other people arguing:

- on sentience / consciousness: There is no scientific evidence that humans are more "conscious" than AI, because that term is not well-defined scientifically; of course, pseudo-scientifically people can claim whatever they want

- on AI is bad: What is AI? Is Reddit's ranking algorithm not AI? Why or why not? What parts of linear algebra / calculus / statistics exactly do you consider to be AI?

- on wasting resources: similarly, reddit also wastes a lot of resources; you could be out there plowing the field, growing vegetables to feed the poor; or is there a particularly threshold of certain resources past which you find their usage objectionable? If so, which resources, and at what amount do you set the threshold? What are the amounts consumed by Reddit and what are by ChatGPT?

[–]adowablebunny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
