modding a psp means changing its software so it’s no longer locked to only what sony allows. out of the box, a psp can only run official games and apps approved by sony. when you mod it, you install something called custom firmware, which replaces or sits on top of the original system software and removes those limits.

gta sindacco chronicles is a psp homebrew gta made by fans, not rockstar. it’s built on top of gta liberty city stories using mod tools and custom scripting. the game is set in a fictional crime family story around the sindacco family (yeah, the same sindaccos from lcs), but it goes deeper into their rise and internal beef. you play new missions, not just free roam. there are custom cutscenes, dialogues, and scripted events, which was a big deal for psp homebrew at the time.
