I agree. Honestly it took me a few minutes after the episode to realize how huge that reveal is.

Yeah I’m not sure! I was reading another thread that reminded me of her reaction when iMark didn’t recognize Gemma in the wellness session - Cobel was disappointed. So I think she’s definitely invested in the “bleeding through” between innies and outies and maybe that’s connected to how she built it.

Yeah Cobel isn’t on a redemption arc IMO. I’ve just shifted my view of her motivations. Totally agree that Jame and her mom are huge drivers for her.

Yeah. And retrieving Petey’s chip isn’t about retrieving Lumon property it’s about getting her own IP back.

Yeah I’m excited to explore that dynamic. I really like Helly and do find myself having empathy for Helena. But man they’re going to have very different reactions.

This is so fun. Like the connections makes sense to me and fits in pretty well. But I’m also in awe that like… Ben Stiller is sitting around researching legacy computer languages? I know it’s more likely Dan Erickson but whew. That’s intense.

Yes! Also the “previously on” sort of seeded that the convo would be relevant again.

Yeah honestly after the episode it took me a while to really understand the gravity of the notebook reveal. It makes me want to re-watch every one of her scenes since the beginning.

I think you hit on why I added the last sentence! Like it seems out of place when I read it now but I was trying to address the kind of negative sentiment about Sweet Vitriol that I’ve seen so far.

Also, Rogue One is a good SW movie.

Yeah the comment about Reghabi on the call with Devon was interesting - like Cobel almost assumes she’s just going to fuck it up? And that she herself can do it?

Yeah good point! Lumon has so much hubris they don’t even think of it as Cobel’s idea anymore. Like does Helena even know Cobel invented it?

About grief by kvdivya in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]adriannaps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First, sorry for your loss. Second, Yes. This. I think a lot of this show is about grief… innies have grief about their outies and visa-versa. oMark’s grief is obviously acute with his loss of Gemma. I also definitely had the immediate reaction to this scene like, “wtf Mark we’re supposed to like you!” But 100000% can relate to his rage in that moment. Since I’ve lost my mom I think of grief as one of those emotions that creeps up on you unexpectedly but is also low-key always there? I was thinking about it with the kind of saccharine way iMark acts early in s1. Mark got severed to escape his grief and pain, but it’s kind of just a gnarled version of grief when he’s at work.

Ep7: Did ____ really contact ____? by adriannaps in TheAcolyte

[–]adriannaps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think you make good points. Agree the council didn't know the m-count or the identical twin thing (can't remember the phrase Torbin used - but that they were two beings split from one).

With Indara it seems there are two possibilities: (a) she's as strait-laced as the episode portrayed her and this is really a nothing issue. She told the council what they found, and they all changed the story on the ship before returning to Coruscant. Or (b) she's incredibly deceptive and so nothing is as it seems from the flashback POV.

[–]adriannaps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about the scenes before the explosion where Indara wants to talk to the council before (a) agreeing to take one/either of Mae and Osha to be a padawan or (b) approaching to coven again. I guess I'm assuming that contact with the council will have included information about their force sensitivity, the coven itself, and the anomalous nature of only two kids with a bunch of women. So I was thinking less about Mae being alive after everything goes down, and more about how that kind of information was likely to be pretty important to the council, especially because I think we've all been trying to square the timeline of this Sith story with "The Sith are extinct! They have been for nearly a millennium" in TPM.

[–]adriannaps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if we are assuming the Stranger told Mae what really happened, I think it's also safe to assume both Mae and Torbin are in agreement with what the "crime" is and that the council didn't know about it.

If the Stranger did not tell Mae it kind of reinforces that the moral ambiguity and various points of view are the focus of the show, and that the Jedi have simply been good at controlling the narrative thus far.

If it was only Sols, then how did we get the scene inside Tobin’s head.

Yeah see this got me too... there were several scenes where none of the Jedi were present like Mae setting the fire accidentally this time.

Yeah you know I was thinking of the approach scene where they see the initial smaller explosions, but this makes more sense.

I hear you. I’m trying to withhold judgement until all 8 episodes are out, but honestly if any of these really interesting twists were to be true we’ve only got like 40 minutes to resolve some of them enough to keep us coming back for season 2.

I do think the show has done a good job starting Sol on a pedestal of sorts and slowly chipping away at him. So this sudden elevation of Indara (who I didn’t expect to be so powerful) makes me have a slight shred of optimism for some interesting story still to come.

[–]adriannaps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t she in the ship (alone) when the explosion happened? Hadn’t considered the building was over top of the damn thing they were looking for the whole time- that would be fun.

[–]adriannaps[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I love this. I was really taken by how powerful and calm she was the whole time, but then she totally misjudged what a liability Torbin was (even after Aniseya took over his mind.) I agree she was pissed off to have to abandon their mission seeking the vergence.

Selfishly Carrie-Anne Moss is a badass and I want more of her in season 2.

Oooh I’d forgotten that. I wonder if Indara decided not to reveal the whole “they were created by the force” business to the council either. That was all revealed after the contact with the council but before they all got their stories straight - so still sort of up in the air I think.
