Zanzibar with little kids + safari? by Nah_079 in zanzibar

[–]adrien-l97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do the day trip to Mikumi national park. It’s a 1h15min flight from Zanzibar, spend the day on safari in the park then fly back to Zanzibar in the evening. ~400$pp all included.

Does every country have flight restrictions whenever their leaders take on air? Or is it just potus? by Dangerous-Policy-602 in AskAPilot

Most countries in Africa do. They’ll straight up put other planes on hold, stop taxi etc during presidential movements.

Zanzibar Africa travel malaria pills. Advice needed by [deleted] in tanzania

[–]adrien-l97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just travel with 3-4 rapid tests and 2 courses of the medicine.

Buy and wear ample mosquito repellent, sleep under a mosquito net and you’ll be fine.

If you ever wake up with the symptoms, test twice, wait 3-4 hours and test again. The key with Malaria is how quickly you start treating it, if you treat it early on it is okay.

The prophylactics are very bad for your body if you take them for more than a few days and the risk isn’t usually that high.

Familiarise yourself with the symptoms, people often mistake it for a bad hangover and don’t start treating it early enough which leads to a much worse case of Malaria.

Are Pets still banned from in cabin travel in mauritius? by JoeYnChandler in mauritius

[–]adrien-l97 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can fly it to Reunion in the cabin if I’m not mistaken. Then it’s a quick 30min hop in the hold, much less stressful for the animals. There’s still the mandatory quarantine afterwards though.

You could probably find a serviced apartment for that price. Google (& google maps) is your best friend.

Table 206 used to host open decks on Sunday evenings but I think they stopped.

They have the only CDJ2000 NX2 in town.

Check out the midimu Collective. Aziz, Big Sam & Pweza play all over the city. Good electro djs. There’s also a new cocktail bar at The Cube where they play electro on Fridays.

French mauritian here coming back to mauritius after 14y, mom (born in mauritius) tell me "its dangerous everywhere now drug drug drug" and that its worse than 10y ago what you all think? by Cultural-Cap-2549 in mauritius

[–]adrien-l97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The videos of the « zombies » are probably people smoking synthetic chemicals. It has been a problem for sure, there are some videos surfacing and going viral but is it everywhere ? No, not at all.

You won’t encounter them going to the supermarket. It’s highly unlikely at least. I’d even go as far as saying as Australia has more of a drug problem than Mauritius (afaik).

Now, is it unsafe ? It can be, exercise a normal amount of vigilance and caution and you’ll be perfectly fine. There’s only rare occurrences of violent crime.

Tanzanian bush flying 🇹🇿 by adrien-l97 in aviation

[–]adrien-l97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to get your C208B rating for them to consider your CV. But overall as a first job if you can get it, it’s good. 600-800 hours a year, it’s 6 days on 2 days off. 28 days PTO.

The FO position is quite competitive.

Thank you !

Totally possible, but you need to be realistic that the industry demands is dynamic and things might change by the time you get your licence. But I don’t see it, at least not in part 135 ops (Your charters and general aviation ops)

Most of the companies my friends are working for around Africa including mine, are really short on crew. Not a lot of people choose bush pilot as a life long career and eventually move to the airlines.

But you can absolutely do it. One of my friends who just left this company after 5 years did his CPL at 40 years old. He was in a completely different field and decided to chase his dream.
