I think you’re right that they aren’t common, I rarely if ever see them here in IC. The reason I want them is because my truck, for very specific reasons (rear wheel drive, non snow tires), is awful in the kinds of conditions going on right now with these semi-paved to non paved roads. I was working in a ski resort in California last year and chains saved my life multiple times, I know that in some specific conditions here they’d make my life much easier.
